Toys for a Blue Crown..

Postby MyMax on Sun Dec 10, 2006 4:52 pm

Are any of your birds persnickity (sp?) about what toys they will play with. So far Max will plax with a woven colorful ball, with a bell burried inside, and with a 3 liter pop bottle cap. All her other toys are ignored.

Today I'm going shopping in hopes getting her a bit more variety to toys she will play with.

Good news, she let my fiance rescue her earlier. She flew down off the top of her cage. (Which is currently sitting very low.) Once she was on the floor she wanted "UP!". (Its funny because she will start franticly saying "up" "up". She got up onto his finger and down onto her cage without threatening to bite him. Yay, progress.

Do any of you find that some toys just don't intest your parrot? If so, what types of toys does your bird like?

Thank you,
Allegra

Most conures like anything they can chew and destroy. My Patagonian likes acrylic foot toys. My gold capped likes pieces of plain pine 2x4 and a PVC plumbing joint to put it in and my nanday isnt too crazy about toys at all but likes to shred paper.------Yogi

My Blue Crown is an odd little critter. He does like his swing. He likes to sit on it with one wing wrapped around it like he is holding on. He likes to give it a good push when he gets excited. He also likes to have his head bowed down below the perch, with his butt in the air and peeking out underneath the perch while holding onto it with one foot. If you can picture that, he does this when he is relaxing. He has acrylic rings, a sysal toy (a preening toy) and coconut shell, which I have attached toys to. He likes to sit with his head in the middle of the coconut so that he is hidden among the toys. When he gets really wound, up, he likes to beat everything up. He has another small set of plastic rings he loves to tug on and really gives them hell. He never had toys before he came to me. He is making up for lost play time now. I am glad your baby is doing OK and that he let your fiance pick her up. If she is happy with certain toys, that is OK. I have learned that you can spend a fortune on toys and sometimes the simples things around the house give them the most pleasure. I used to have 'too who would entertain himself for hours with a spoon or anything shiny. Give her time. She will adjust to life with both of you. T
