Part of me is excited, and part of me is really nervous...
I will soon be adding a rehomed Ducorps Cocktoo to my flock. It's been a little over two years since I lost Nika, my Triton Cocktoo, to an illness. Since then, I have been keeping my eyes out for another Triton or possibly a Greater, Citron, or Medium. I originally really wanted another Triton because I loved Nika so much, but I was also worried that I might place unfair expectations on the new bird since Nika was so wonderful. I think it's more important to choose the new bird based on personality than the species. After all, before getting Nika, I wanted an Umbrella or a Moluccan, but I found Nika, who was a great bird for me. Now I found Talli. From discussions with her owner, I think she will fit in well with the rest of my flock. I'm not picking her up until the middle to end of October. I have to be out of town for a week for work/training. I didn't want to bring Talli home, put her in another room for quarantine, and then leave her alone with just my pet sitter stopping in a couple times a day. It will be a big enough adjustment as it is for her to move to a new home.
Any other Ducorps owners out there?
