What does your Vet charge?

Postby Adell on Mon Jan 07, 2008 8:22 am

I don't have many vets to pick from in my area (ok so there is one here and one about 4 hours away) so I guess even if I am being over charged there is not much I can do ;)

What does your vet charge for a normal check up? What is done?

How much for nails/wings? Or do you just do them yourself?

Does your vet charge more if your bird is a bit harder to handle?

$54. This usually includes a weigh in, check of the eyes, ears, nostrils, and check the breathing.

I honestly don't know! I've never went to my vet to get those done... not only that but the local parrot store here will do those for free. I do my own birds nails and beaks when needed. With my mitred I use a dremel to keep his beak in shape (he's missing half of his lower jaw and has scissor beak).

Does your vet charge more if your bird is a bit harder to handle?
Again, I wouldn't know.

My vet charges $35 for all, nails, beak, wings, weigh in, ears, eyes, nostrils, breathing. Charges the same for Cockatoo as he does for the Sun Conure.
Slave to Twinkie-Dink, Pebbles and Annie. Goddess to Sassafrass (dog) and equal to Rambo (pig).

My vet charges $30 for an all inclusive birdie exam, no bloodwork, and $5 for wings, nails and beak. He doesn't charge anything extra for fussy birds. And if the bird does get bloodwork or a shot or anything then the exam fee of $30 goes down to $15
