My good friend Alex lost her cockatoo Bridget yesterday. Bridget went into surgery to have her wing fixed, and died shortly after surgery. She had a piece of wood fall on her on Xmas Eve. Of course, vets are on vacation then but Alex finally found a vet who gave pain meds and taped the wing until she could get it fixed. She was the most wonderful cockatoo that I have ever met. She would go around and preen all the other birds. Gondra who mutilates wears a collar and Bridget would nudge up her wing and preen her.

Bridget is Alex's first bird. The one who began it all and she was the reason Alex started to rescue birds.

Alex, I know how much pain you are in right now and there is nothing I can say that will make it better but you are in my thoughts and prayers.

You are MY hero!!!!!

Bev

Godspeed Bridgey!!!!!

Alex is my HERO too, Bev. She uses her own money to take in all of the broken/homeless feathered ones and fixes them up to send them on to good homes. It breaks my heart that when she tried to fix up her beloved Bridget, that it turned out wrong. She has done so much good for our feathered friends and now our Birdie Angel is hurting and it hurts me too. :(

Fly free sweet Bridget...

Cathy

You got that right Cathy. I've seen her use her car payment to rescue a bird.

She truly is one of a kind.

Bev

Thanks for asking about me Bev. I have been in computer h*ll. My good one fried, literally, and the old dinosaur won't let me post on this site. The one I'm using won't let me do email and it's a new one too. I get so frustrated with them that I rarely turn them on anymore. Besides, I don't have much time or the opportunity with my 3 yo grandson around. If he sees the computer on, he turns into an octopus pushing all the buttons and even turns it off while I am typing. I'm so afraid of losing the data on the dinosaur, the only limited data I have left, that I cannot turn it on while he is awake.

He is terror and my life is spent in defensive mode. In the last week I have had to remove all of the knobs from my stove. I also found my microwave running with 72:46 minutes left to cook. Now that scared the snot out of me. LOL Then this morning when I got up, his mother and grandpa were in the living room with the baby, and walked into my kitchen I found my refrigerator door wide open. The kid keeps me busy and on my toes...

Cathy, greatly missing her peace and quiet... LOL

Alex, I'm so very sorry to hear about Bridget. It hurts so much I know. I wish I could help you recover as you did for me after Dusty. I am sure that you are feeling like I did about that "first bird." Hugs,
