Crappy customer service

Postby Lucille on Sat Nov 10, 2007 2:17 pm

I wonder what it is with some of the cage manufacturers and their
seeming lack of ability to talk to their customers?
I sent King's Cages a couple questions on two different occasions
about cages; and sent Avian Adventures some emails about extra perches
I wanted to buy for the little AA cages I'm getting for some of the
smaller birds.
I have not got one answer from either and it has been over a week.
OK, so maybe I'm not going to spend a zillion dollars this time but
hey, a happy customer is worthwhile I always thought.
OK, rant over.

Im over spending 1200.00 for a kings cage and Macaws have paint down to metal in a couple days- ordered A&E cages 1/4 of the cost, larger and they dont eat the paint off, no bare metal, so 450.00 for a 40x38 cage it will be from now on.

I've actually had excellent customer service from King's Cages. I called their 1-800 number because I was missing some screws from one of my cages. I either misplaced them or lost them during a move. The person got a manager on the phone, and he offered to send me a full set for $10, which included the shipping. I would have paid more.

Even though I don't have any macaws, just greys and a cockatoo, any cages I buy in the future will be stainless steel. I don't think any powder coated cages really hold up to the bigger macaws. It's just a matter of time.

The absolute WORST experience ever, was with mybirdstore.com
I was getting my m2 in about 5 weeks, so I ordered a cage through them (It was an A&E cage). So the week before she is to arrive, still no cage! I call them up and they say that the A&E guy (her son) has been out of town but it will be there Wednesday (I'm getting her Thursday. I think I can swing it so I agree. Guess what? No cage that day. I call them up and there has been a mix up- they PROMISE me it will be there Friday- THE DAY AFTER I GET HER! I'm not happy, but I agree (Just one night in her travel cage). So I'm waiting the next day... No cage! I call them up and I'm irate. They say ran out of room on their shipping truck, and wanted to get more orders out so they left mine behind! Even after they KNEW my situation and PROMISED it would be going out! The soonest it will arrive? Tuesday of the next week! That's 4 MORE days with no cage! I have to go to petco and buy a crappy one for her to have while I wait. It finally arrives and I call them, they offer me compensation- 40% off a cage cover. I go for it. Still waiting (this was last October). Would NEVER buy ANYTHING from them. And while I like the A&E cage, that guy really jerked me around. It took 6 weeks to ship that cage from when I ordered it (and only 4 days in transit). Just an FYI for everyone...

Zoey, not sure where you are located...

I got my huge King's cages from Love on the Wing in the Minneapolis area. I live approximately 400 miles away. It was delivered by truck within 2 days each time. Love on the Wing also had some of the best prices I've found.

Just in case you ever need another cage...

I'm in New Mexico (four corners region)- pretty much in the middle of nowhere so I do most shopping online. The nearest big city is Albuquerque, and its a 3 hour drive (where I had to drive to pick up Zoey, my M2 at the airport). We don't have much in the way of pet supplies nearby. Thanks for the offer though!

I think customer service depends on who is working at that time because kings cages got back to me within five days. then i sent them another email shortly and recieved no reply. avian adventures replied quickly. anyone else have a AA cage? I'm contemplating getting one cause i love no nuts of bolts. anyone heard of www.birdcages4less.com ive heard only good things about their cages and wonder how they hold up. thanx
Blessed are the flexible for they shall not

I don't think King's Cages went out of business. Their website is still up and running anyways...

I guess if I needed help from customer service, I wouldn't send an email. It is too easy to put off. I called the 1-800 number to talk to someone directly when I needed assistance, and I got the help I needed right then and there.

Kings Cages lack of service

Postby flightinspector on Sun Mar 09, 2008 12:29 pm

I purchased an $850 java tree about a month ago. This tree came in two pieces which then bolt into a 72 inch long tray. There were no instructions about how to put this unmanageable, heavy tree together. In the process of trying, the edge of my stand got crushed when the tree shifted. I called Kings Cages three times and was told that they would get back to me. I only asked for information on how I could purchase a new tray or even the decorative strip on the side. NO ONE EVER TRIED TO CONTACT ME THROUGH THE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT I SUPPLIED NOR BY PHONE ! SERVICE DEPARTMENT--THEY SHOULD RENAME IT !

No, Kings Cages is still in business. I have 5 of their cages and one missing a couple of parts from a move. I contacted them about the missing parts and to make a long story short the last thing that I said before hanging up was " Thank You, You have been absolutely NO HELP AT ALL". The cage is still missing the parts but its usuable. And I do agree that the powder coating looks nice, however it hasnt held up under my cockatoos beaks. On the plus side none of my birds have escaped from their Kings Cages either, even my weld popping, lock picking Umbrella. lol
