a playstand for a Cockatoo? My husband and I love to build things and we know the right things to use(stainless steel ect) but haven't really found any plans to make a cool stand for Louie. We like to make a big one for the living room and a smaller one for the office. Please give advice or post links/pictures! Thanks!!

I love that Kitchen Sink toy. Well, I should say Spencer loves it (since I can't fit on it).

Thanks! Wow those are neat. They are pretty expensive, may have to be a Hatchday or Christmas present!!

Oh yes! Bingo has some of that type. His are smaller and bolt to the inside of the cage. He just loves those spinning parts. He would really love the kitchen sink!

Here is what my husband and I made for Sera:

Her helping with the chain:

It's a little dark, but you'll get the idea:

One more (please excuse the Chinese Cresteds!):

And here it is out in the yard before we added anything to it:

We have a TON more toys and things hanging from it now. It's like a play land and she just can't keep still on it!

I would LOVE it if Mike would make one of those for Annie. I still have the pictures that you emailed me several months ago. I showed them to Mike and he just said "Uh huh, nice". Didn't get the hint! I said "You can make this for Annie!" And he goes "Uh huh, when I get time"
Still don't have it yet! :?

We made Louie a playstand over the weekend out of PVC. We needed one on wheels we could take from the office to kitchen ect. Ok so he is terrified of it!!! We made it on saturday and he is still afraid. Any suggestions?? Do you think its because it is all white? I'm not sure he has ever seen a playstand before the way he acts!!

Mom2Sera yours is awesome!! We may make him a larger one like that in the uiture!

How do you add pictures?? I was going to add one of ours but can't figure it out.

Sometimes if they just see if for a few days they'll get used to it....maybe move it a little closer to them a little at a time....or you could add a little treat cup with some of their favorite treats...let them see that...
There is a fairly new foraging DVD out...and that gives some good hints on getting them used to foraging on a tree stand...might work....
I have a military macaw that wouldn't go on the playstands for any reason....but will go from cage to cage....

The phots of Mom2 Sera's stand are awesome....that is a great stand...and can be varied so much....just add a this or that....Super...Thanks..

Thanks guys!

The only constants on that stand are the boing and the chain. Other then that, I'm always rotating toys. Usually, what I do is take old toys out of her cage and put them on there. Then, I give her the new toys that I bought. I will also put new toys on the stand.

But I've also hung plastic hangers, tied paper towels, and wrapped magazines around it. Anything she can play with, she loves.....and shredding is awesome!

Sera is TERRIFIED of natural wood. I think it's the color brown that she doesn't like, really. I made a GIANT orbiter for her out of hula hoops and used the vet wrap (but in brown) to cover it. She was petrified of it for about 3 days. Now she loves it.

I just took her out and sat with her next to it. Then I moved a little closer. And then I put MY hand on it and just stood there. She saw me touching it and that was all it took!! I guess if Mommy likes it, it's good enough for her!
