Tatle tell birds

Postby Cyndie on Tue Jun 19, 2007 12:28 pm

Do all the birds in your flock tell when another bird is being bad? Today, Buffett, the military macaw, flew over to another bird's cage...and all of the birds went into alert mode...I was in the laundry room...and went in to see what the rackus was...Buff looked really surprised..like..Hey, how did you know I was missing?? Ya just gotta love 'em.

Well, not like I'm not immediately aware of it myself, but when Bingo decides to do some screaming when I'm out of the room, Baggins (TAG) yells at him "Quiet!"

Twinkie, my Tiel, is the tattletale of my group. If Annie flies over to Pebbles cage to torment her Twinkie (who is normally VERY quiet) starts whistling real loud.

It really depends here on who is doing what or rather who has invaded who's space.... I kinda wish I had an informant bird...LOL!

Then there are always the stories you hear about the birds that manage to get out and then release the rest of the birds - so who would want to squeal? LOL

Speaking of tattle tells....I have an over 60 year old DYH amazon that saved our house from fire twice...I work nights...and had a tendency to come home and make breakfast....once I fell asleep with the skillet heating...she started screaming and screaming...it woke me up...the second time...I went outside...got involved in yardwork...and heard her from out there...just before the smoke detectors went off...

Cyndie, how scary. I'm surprised the 'toos were screaming too. I think Bingo would scream if someone broke in but I don't know about fire.

My U2 is not the tatle tale but my BG macaw is. When SAMe (U2) starts to scream my macaw tells her to "be quiet", she screams again it turns into "shut up", next scream "shut up, right now!", followed by the final scream with "shut up, right now, damn it!". My macaw also rats out the cat. I have a couple of cats, one is named Marco, when Marco jumps up on the counter or couch where he's not supposed to be, Jomo yells, "Marco, get down" "Marco, get down right now!" It just amazes me.
