Pissed off Too!

Lollie health wise is fine. I am however a bit concerned about her. She never has liked my father (he's 86 & lives with us) or my son (he's 12). She tolerates the boy at best. However she was my wife's bird for the first few months but now only wants me & in fact tried to attack her last nite as we sat on our couch. She then went into full defense mood & would let me put her in her cage. Actually she been very pissy & nippy about going back in her cage the last week or so to either of us. She has never shown that side with us before this. So anyway I'm a little concerned as to what's up.

Any ideas out there?

We moved the boys Grey out to her room, but here mood was starting to get bad before that.
She is about 9.5 yrs old I believe. She laid two eggs a month or more ago. I took the toy bucket out that she was trying to use as a nest, but there again this was a month ago.

That helps & most of it I knew. I just don't get why all of a sudden she won't go back in her cage without a squabble & why she hates the wife on the couch. This morning as most mornings we showered with her & Nancy showered her as she always does. Lifts wings, crests & tail for a good birdy bath.

    I just don't get it.

they do, do this and it can be very minute- to minute- hour to hour. Id just get her back into cage and let her work it out, You dont need anyone getting bitten or upset. Even at the Parrot Shop i use to work, U2 there would get mood swings and you just have to watch body langauge and be careful, Cockatoos are known for this, kinda like birdie pms- its a phrase we use here, vet and shop.

It's just been such a surprise. She has never shown this to Nancy. She's always been a sweetie. Now the boy that's another thing. He calls her evil or the devil bird.
I just hope we can work thru this as Nancy is none too happy with her right now.

I know this can be tough- but try and work through it. Maybe have Nancy do just 1 on 1 for a little bit. Ours are like that and there are times when there is just no pleasing or nicness, and we go on and come back and usually its better. Just keep trying, dont give up.

    We will certainly try too.

We purchased an outdoor aviary for her. Put it on a huge concrete pad a fancy one with lots of patio furniture so she can spend time outdoors with us. Of course she doesn't like the aviary yet but I'm sure she will grow to like it.
Last nite we were out there for a 1/2 hour with her after an evening meeting & then brought her in sat her on her play stand Nancy sat down on her end of the couch & Lollie hopped of & ran to get her. Nancy jumped up I got between them & tried to put her up but no go baby. She would have none of it. She was staying out & I could just deal with it. Well we finally got her in & covered her up. It was about nine by this time & around her birdy beddy by time. So we sat there as she whistled & spoke (Too speak) softly to us till we went to bead around ten.

Sorry to drone on but I am just having a hard time believing this was the same sweetie pie that I cuddle with.

Thanks Again & we will keep trying.

She's going through something, I wouldnt take it to hard, they all do and hopefully with a little patience and time she will come out of it. Have Nancy make some of her favorite human foods and feed her without you around then try and both do it. I know its heartbreaking, but they to have off days, our U2 are 6-7 and Goffin is 3 and Rosebreasted 1 1/2 yrs, so all of our birds have days they just want to be left alone, and chew their toys and thats permitted.

We'll do that. She loves pancakes. So maybe we can get her won over by Nancy feeding her a treat or two a day.

    Thanks Again!!!!!!!!!!!!

Just a thought - but do you think she has bonded with you and thinks of you as her mate. She will be agressive toward any others to keep them away from you.

I have a caique who gets into some weird moods and will really try to attack me. I believe they are hormone surges and that he doesn't realize what he is doing. If I just wait for it to pass he then again is the sweetest little guy and just cuddles and lays in my hand upside down and plays, etc. I call them the "naughty surges" and we just wait for them to pass.

My daughter has an Ecclectus that LOVED her when they first got him. He was about 9 or 10 years old and Catie (my daughter) was his 4th (and FINAL) owner. Anyway, all of a sudden, after loving, cuddling, kissing, wolf whistling at Catie he started attacking her.......Viscously. It took a good year but she thinks he's back to normal now. Don't know what caused him to be mean to her or what brought him back. She's just glad he's back. He would actually hide from her so he could sneak attack her!
