Clarification of information

Postby Cyndie on Wed Apr 25, 2007 7:46 pm

I really don't see where any particular people here are always trying to be right..There have been some really good issues raised over the past few days....but the one thing that has always made this chat more credible than a lot of other is the accuracy of information that is passed on. I feel that if information is dubious or confusing then it needs to be clarified...Most of us take heart in the information that we obtain here and wrong or confusing information could be harmful to the birds...and egos aside...aren't the birds the whole reason that we're all here...to learn?

Indeed. If something is said that could be detrimental to the health of our birds, it needs to be questioned and discussed. Not as a matter of right or wrong, but to bring clarification and understanding of the reasons for the choices we make for our birds' health.

As I see it, there are various ways to care for a bird properly, at least within the various eyes of people who have been there and have birds who are in great health. There will always be different views when it comes to keeping pets... I think the best advice anyone can ever give, is to never stop researching better ways, and to always take something that you have learned and to see if you could apply it yourself... If it doesn't make sense, if it doesn't seem logical, question it, by all means question it! In short, find out what works best for you and your pets without it being detrimental to their health and happiness.

If you find something that works for you, by all means share it! But do know that it may not work for someone else... so it can be more or less of a suggestion. Some people will graciously accept this information and try it, while others will plain out shun it for whatever reason it may be. It is these people who refuse to see anothers point of view or ideas, that I believe need the most in regards to help.

In short, you can learn a lot more if you are an open minded person.

You're so right. It is about the birds but I think that sometimes gets muddled or perhaps some of us have different interpretations...I don't know. I teach a monthly basic education workshop and those willing to read and learn do really well.....and their energy is always positive. It also seems that they tend to be more creative not only in their answers but how they interact with their birds and the environment they provide or plan to provide....I think in general birds in their home are probably pretty darn lucky. I think birds in some of the other homes are probably lucky too ...its just harder to see it in class maybe. But some people spend so much time fighting or proving themselves that it tends to become about them and not the birds...which is a whole different sort of need ...some sort of personal cry maybe..?..and other times its seems hopeless.

I know one thing I've learned is that the more I learn about birds the less I know and learning is continual....24/7. I love it and hope I never tire of it.
