My Goffins, Bingo, who we got when he was eight, loves his rope perch, too. He is 13 now. You should see him swinging loops around it, flapping like mad. LOL

They love to be crazy! She has come along way! When we first got her, her wings we clipped backwards. So we have let her grow out and she travels around the house supervised of course. Her feathers were grey, from living in a 2ftx2t cage no toys 1 perch.

Yep, and she does the same swing and flapping that it sounds like Baggins does. Must be a Goffin thing.

At least Now, you can approach her cage and talk to her, without her diving to the bottom to escape. Previous Owners were very mean to her. But trust is growing ever so slowly.

I know she will probably never step up for me or sit on me but she is slowly getting less afraid of me.

it all takes time. At least it is going forward, not backwards.

Bingo's previous owners tried to take care of him but they just weren't people that researched on what birds really need. They fed him mostly pellets, which my avian vet thinks caused the too high protein level in his blood when he came to me. I started feeding him as his basic diet home-grown sprouts and a mash recipe. He's very healthy now. The cage they had him was too small too, but he did get exercise outside his cage. But the thing that bugged me the most was that they told us proudly that he was eight years old and had never been to a vet. :(

Annie was also neglected. :( We had to take her to the doctor A LOT when she first came to live with us. It took awhile for her to trust us too. But she does now and will lay on her back for tickles. :D She's so cute.
I had no idea how much care a Goffin needs but I fell so in love with her that its not a chore to care for any of my babies. And I get so much advice and 'atta girl' from this site! And when I do screw up, no one tells me how stupid I am. I always worried about losing the birds trust but...... they get mad at me sometimes (like when I make them take a bath) but they still love me!
It took Pebbles (Sun Conure) a long time to completely bond with me. She was with her previous owner for 9 years. She was devestated when she lost her mommy. When she came to me she immediately started kissing me but I could tell she missed her old mommy. She's still not completely trusting me yet, I've had her 1 year and 4 months. It'll just take time.
Slave to Twinkie-Dink, Pebbles and Annie. Goddess to Sassafrass (dog) and equal to Rambo (pig).
