why is Bj pulling his feathers out?

Postby doquia on Sat Oct 24, 2009 10:34 pm

I'm sorry guess I'll have a lot of questions but can someone tell me why Bj is pulling his chest feathers out? I misted him today ( read your supposed to do that ) and when I got his chest wet I noticed he is bald all the way down between his legs. I read he could be stressing out but he seems so happy and I've went to the store and got him fruit and vegs and some peanuts which he is tearing up. He has plenty to chew lots of toys is eating good and jumping around his cage telling me to let him out and yes he was out for a while today almost all day. What am I doing wrong?

Have you found the feathers he's pulled? If not, they may have been gone awhile. If you have found them, it could easily be the stress of leaving the life he knew and moving in with strangers. Even kind strangers can still be upsetting. Think how you would feel if you were uprooted as he's been with no explanation. Stay calm, have fun, and love him. I wouldn't feed a bird peanuts though, for several reasons. They aren't healthy. We can talk more about diet later if you're interested.
