I've never heard about them before either.

I understood it is a soup/stew?
But was wondering what the kernels are Rosie's mom was referring to
I googled it in the end and YUMMMMM sounds great!
It says it contains "Hominy" which is a dried maize kernel so I assume that's the kernel RM is talking about

Hmmm...I thought they were like a tamale but I am unfamilar with home-cooked Latino fare.It does sound intriging.
Funny story though, my husband is from Thailand so I make a lot of Thai noodle and rice dishes. The birds LOVE the peanut dishes. I have to make sure all the birds are in 'lock down" when I serve the thai dishes because if not I will have ALLof them helping themselves in the bowls and dishes. I think it is pretty funny but my husband gets grossed out with them all walking and munching in the dishes
