R.I.P. my sweet Luna

Postby Luna Bella on Sat Dec 20, 2008 11:11 pm

Luna died tonight while we were doing her nails. It was most likely stress - we got a new tool for her nails - the Peticure to try and make easier on her and us. I think I took too long trying to do it slow not to hurt - she died instead. It's been over a half hour and I can't stop crying. Hubby wants me to get another one tomorrow. It won't be the same. I can't believe she's gone and we won't have breakfast together. I just bought a training CD, and a shower perch for her for our showers together. I can't believe she's gone.

I'm so very sorry. Poor little girl  Poor, poor mama  Too sad    Please be very gentle with yourself, realizing there is no way in this world you intended this to happen. It's called an accident. Please don't torment yourself. Let yourself grieve, knowing she's at peace and felt your love every day of her life. When the time is right, let another sweet tiel lick away your tears. Healing light all around you.

Thank you BB. WE would have had for only three years on jan. 6 . I didn't even know I was a bird person a month before we got her. It's so quiet she would be calling for me and we would share some pears or carrots before I put her to bed.

I'm so sorry. Know that she will be waiting for you at the end of the Rainbow Bridge. In time, let another tiel or another FID heal the hurt in your heart. You will never forget, but another bird can heal the hurt.

Oh Jo, I am so sorry for your loss! I can't believe that something like doing her nails could do this?? gee, and I was thinking of getting one of those too, but mostly for Ivy's nails since they are so big. I just can't believe it.......how sad that you only had three years together :( I know how much you love Luna, she was such a beautiful tiel. I feel just terrible for you! and she was your one and only. I am so very sorry!!!

I wouldn't try using it on another tiel - the nails are too short and with the curved angle it made it harder to do. I should have stopped and gone back to the cortorizer we were used to. I can't stop crying

It was an unfortunate accident Jo, and you can spread the word to the bird community that this is not a safe product to use on smaller birds. Know that she loved you.

Christie, I think it is a good product, I said I wouldn't use it on another tiel. It's not the tool for me. Just like some people don't like using a cortorizing tool.

Honestly Jo, that product was meant for dogs and cats, and when Good Morning America tried it out, they found it wasn't even good for them. For VERY calm dogs it is okay, but for most pets, it is horrid. I wouldn't call it a good product at all.

I'm sorry if this is harsh, but the product does not have any reviews for birds that I can see, and it was never made for them. My advice is to stick with what is known to work with our fids.

OMG! I am soooo sorry *hugs*. I can not believe that she is gone. It's so weird because I was wondering just a couple of days ago where you had been. I am so very sorry, I can not even imagine what you are going thru. I am crying for you. May beautiful little Luna RIP. I'm so sorry Jo, so, so sorry. I can not believe it  ...

My friend was telling me just that other night that she had bought that for her Chihuahua and she made her dogs nails bleed so bad. I thought that tool was to prevent that.

I want to thank everyone for the words of support and love - It means so much to me, especially at this hour of the night. I've been so busy with work and caring for hubby, I haven't had much time to reply to many posts. By the time I sit at the computer I'm so tired I fall asleep in the chair.
She filled such a space in my life I can't begin to explain it - to hear her from the garage when I got home, she would be so excited she'd poop - even on hubby! Then try to get to me as soon as she could - running across the floor to meet me, with her wings held out a little. IF I got home after she went to bed, the next night she made sure I spent time cuddling with her and kissing her. She would lay on me as if she on a clutch of eggs.
I'm still crying like I was when it happened - hours ago. I just can't seem to stop for very long. We are going to look into cremation - so far on line I found pet cremation sites for dogs and cats. I guess I'll call the vets office on Monday.

Thanks again for the words of support - I can't begin to tell you how much I appreciate it and how much it has helped.

Jo

Aww I am sooo sorry for your loss my you know my Neeko is at rainbow bridge to greet her ... Just do NOT blame yourself ... They do tend to get under your skin and into your heart with out you even knowing it till something showes you just how much they mean to you
God needed this angel more than you , he had a reason to take her ....Rainbow bridge recieved another angel today .......
As they days pass and the hours tick may you see peace and comfort that you once new.... The tiny eyes the small beak the tick of the claws walking on the floor to find you ..Lunas tallons will never be filled . May the grace of God carry you and yours through . May you take comfort that I have 3 at rainbow bridge waiting to help your Luna till she can meet you again .. Sorry for your loss It was an honor for to me to have gotten to be part of Lunas life . God Bless

Rainbow Bridge
Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Jo,

I was shocked to hear about Luna. I got a note from Sue this afternoon. I"ve not been too active on UAS lately due to family matters and with my Mom. I feel the hurt, and believe me, I've been there way too many times, but with you and Luna, I know you had a very special relationship. It will take some time, but you do need to have another birdie. Perhaps the birdie you connected with in the pet store some time back, or maybe another cockatiel. ((x)) big hugs.
