glade scented candles/oil

Postby bostonbudgie on Fri Dec 05, 2008 7:51 am

I just got an email from the New York Bird club with a warning about those glade scented candles you see advertised on TV.
DO NOT USE THEM!!!!!!!!!!!!
They are deadly to birds.

I have seen this email too.

Of course, as we always state, do not burn candles that are scented or have metal in the wick as this email is stating these candles have. In many cases, the metal is lead, which is not good for ANY of us, people and pets.

If you are forced to burn a candle for light if the power is off, use one that is 100% pure beeswax and has a 100% cotton wick.

If you don't have a beeswax candle already, buy a lantern or flashlight instead
