Poop Color

Postby Rosies Mommy on Wed Nov 26, 2008 12:28 pm

This morning Rosie had a really good normal colored poop.. Later on she had a really dark green poop and about 10-15 minutes ago she had a really dark like black or really, really dark brown poop.. She is acting fine, she is actually being pretty normal the last few days and she just had her booty in the air.. Her Dr is out of town till Monday so he couldn't give me any advice/suggestions on this. There has not been any changes in her diet and all she has ate this morning are seeds.. Should I just watch her and see how her poops are later in the day?

Yes, just watch her. As long as she's acting normal, eating her usual, and pooping fecal matter (not just urine), indications are good she's okay. Of course, it's always good for each of us to know which vet we'd rush to in an emergency, when our regular vet isn't available. Do you know already? If not, can you find out JIC? I doubt you'll have any reason to NEED to know, but it's good info to always have at hand.

Happy Thanksgiving to you and Rosie and your parents :D

Thank you so much :).. Yeah, I would definitely take her to Dr Cantos who I called today also but she was closed, she was always a great Dr.. If I had no other choice at all I would take her back to Dr. Duffin. Rosie's poops returned to their normal color later on in the day, it alarmed me because she has not had any change in her diet but thank god they returned to their normal color. Once in a while she does just poop liquid like day before yesterday she done it once or twice. Thanks again and I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving too with all your little family of birdies :D

I still think this is "normal" hormone "poops". Lucille does the same thing but it is good that you are paying attention to this. When lucille was first doing these funny poops I paniced too and rushed her to the vet. It was "hormonal" normal.I had a gram stain done and the levle was a bit higher than usual But it was normal for a broody hen.

Rosie is doing good.. Thanks for asking. She is sleeping right now, I took her for a ride so that she could get out of the house a little bit. She is doing her booty in the air thing about once a day but her Poop was only really dark those 2 times. Yesterday it was a light creamy green color. Thanks for asking again :) I really appreciate your concern..

Sure glad I didn't have a bird sitting on my shoulder as I read this. I'd never have heard the end of it. We wanna live with Rosie. HER mommy knows how to do it RIGHT!

Lucky Rosie! :D

lol Rosie likes going for rides with us. She stays crying when we leave her. So at least once a week I take her for a ride.. I get her carry cage and I put it on the couch and I tell her "Get in if you wanna go Baby" and she will climb into the cage and sit there waiting for me to close the top. Shes so funny too if I try to help her get in she will like walk away from my hand she wants to get in all by herself like a big girl :).. And in the car she likes to be held up and she sits there looking out the window all interested at everything around her. I can't take her alone because she does NOT like to be on the seat where she can't look out the window. lol I can just imagine you girls taking all your birds for a ride haha.

OMG That is so funny cute and.... wicked spoiled!!! :D
My birds don't really like car rides because it usually means a vet visit. I did take the whole flock up to the Canadian border for a vacation trip (8 hour trip..no stopping) They did pretty good except for Whook (the budgie). He gets car sick!
Oh FYI if you decided to bring your birdies on vacation with you most places that have cottages/cabins will allow you to bring pets!
it was really nice to have everyone with us on vacation! :D

How cute that you took all your babies with you.. Now a 8 hour car drive would drive Rosie nuts because she don't like to be locked in a cage that long the only time shes locked in her cage is at night. After about an hour in her carry cage she is running back and forth wanting out. Thats very cool to know that they will allow your birds to go with you in most places tho..
