Cockatiel sick?

Postby rrcool on Sun Nov 23, 2008 12:51 pm

Hello all:

My cockatiel George seems to be acting a little different lately. He is at the tail end of a molt, but his symtoms seem to be lasting longer than normal. He's had some runny stool off and on for a few weeks now and is a lot quieter than normal. He's also been completely shying away from any 'human' food. All the usual things he usually loves like rice and noodles he hasn't been touching. Do you think there is anything wrong or do you think maybe its just his molting? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Mine get 24 hrs to be "off" and then they're at the vet's getting blood drawn  I surely hope George heals, but please get to a good avian vet as early tomorrow as possible. Meantime, give him extra heat. Have you read our recent discussions in this forum about ways to provide extra heat? If not and you need help finding them -- or a good vet -- just say so.

When Mateo molts, he can get a little moody, but his overall food and personality don't change. If he's not eating the stuff he usually eats, I think it might be time to be concerned.

How long has been acting different?
