It was my Nigel(la). :D I was so ecstatic when I saw her pic! :) Don't ask me where that caption came from though - I didn't write it!

She is quite gorgeous, even though she's a fussybutt.

Altho it's been forever and a day, I still wonder what became of little Mateo, whose pits we spent so much time worrying about. Anyone ever chat privately with Callisto about what happened? I presume it wasn't good news she got that day she last posted

I am here! I still get notified of updates to this thread. To date, Mateo is still bald under his wings and still picks. He's the same as always - he's in good health. I haven't tried anything new with him in a looooong time. I was going to try the Roudybush rice diet and see how he fared on that, but it would seem his problem is behavioral and not some kind of physical ailment. I think he picks because he's bored and it's now become a bad habit. He lives alone, but it next to our cage of four parakeets. He gets plenty of love and interaction when we're home.

So I've just kinda let him be. He seems happy. I think he's just a picker. :?

Thanks for the good news! I feed the rice pellets to several of my larger parrots but haven't tried it with my 'tiel flock b/c they seem to really like their regular Roudybush pellets. I bought the rice pellets initially to see if my longtime plucker, a 7yo Quaker girl, might be allergic to corn. If she is, it's not the only reason she plucks. Sigh. I give her Ronidazole for 30 days at least once annually to keep giardia in check. I believe most plucking is probably caused by a physical problem -- or several -- that's not yet diagnosed. So glad our cuties are happy despite :)

Here he is last week... look at his sweet dance moves!

Oh, I should also note that I did try some Bach's Rescue Remedy (Pet), as it was recommended by a friend who tried it with their conures for balding. No success for Mateo though.
