He Did It!!!!

Postby SandyG on Sat Nov 01, 2008 9:18 pm

Well, I guess my questions about teaching a 'tiel to talk were a bit premature!

This morning, Boh-Boh was doing what I call "muttering under his breath" - you know what I mean - not the loud tweeting but just making quiet noises, and then suddenly he came out with "Good grief!"

I about lost it! I have been saying that to him over and over again for about three weeks now, but I never really expected to hear him say it! He said it about three times, and then I did not hear it again for the rest of the day. I guess he will come out with it again now that he knows it. It really tickled me! :P

Yes, I do know what you mean. And every bird I've ever had that talked did their best/most frequent talking when they were "muttering under their breath". I'm not sure why, but it kind of seems to me that they are feeling "comfy cozy" at those times. I know lots of people have birds that talk all the time, or even on request. But mine have only talked when they are chillin' Anyway, congratulations. Have fun picking your baby's new vocabulary.

he came out with "oh stop that!" and "oh My God YOU STINK!" ha haha! the worst part is that he says it with a British accent!!!

I think "Whook" (the budgie) tends to pick up phrases that are "expressive".
When I dropped a cup of seeds on the floor I yelled "oh #$%^!!!!!!" All I had to do is say it once and Whook picked it up. He generally lets us know his "new phrases" when we have company
