Yayyyy they have all fledged

Postby Claudia on Tue Oct 21, 2008 6:36 am

..........took the nest box out straight away, Meg laid 3 eggs in the end, I boiled two of them but I dropped one of them :?

Will try post some pics tomorrow........
They're so cute, they are all snuggled up together sleeping
They love those "pre shaped" rope toys for sleeping on......I know you gotta be careful with those in terms of the birds ingesting the fibres.
None of my birds have picked at them (yet) but will keep good eye on it, as soon as I see fraying/loose threads etc I will throw them out.

Claudia,

I'm so happy they have fledged, and you have pulled the nestbox. Hopefully she will stop laying now, but even if she doesn't, just toss the eggs. I don't think she'll continue to lay, especially since the box is gone. By all means, try to get a pict or 3 of all the chicks huddled together sleeping -- that is always so cute!

Claudia,

Your babies are superb! I wish I could get another pied from someone, but I think I'm done letting them have babies for a little while. You haven't done any sexing of them have you?

No, don't think so either... I suppose I *could* take a vacation :), but I'd probably get caught smuggling a chick on the airplane :( Just my luck!

thanks Monica :D we're stoked!
First breeding experience and it's been great! :D
They're all eating "normal" food too now, mum and dad still feed them a lot though, how much longer will they get fed for???
I've got 2 extra dishes in the aviary now, one separate one with (small) pellets but seed is the favourite of course :( .
Have seen the bubs eating broccoli and bottlebrush flowers though so that's good :)

.............1 egg on the bottom of the aviary two days ago.
It appears Meg is "done" though, can't see her little bottom being enlarged anymore, it used to be so obvious, a real "egg shaped" bottom

A couple weeks, give or take.... As long as the chicks feel like begging, and the parents, or at least Noah, feel like feeding! Sam might be able to tell ya better than I!

Just keep offering them a variety of fresh foods and I'm sure the little bubs curiousity may get the better of them! :D And hopefully, Meg is done!!!

Claudia, the babies are beautiful! :-) Thanks for posting the picture. On the pic of the 6 of them on the rope, the baby on the very left looks kind of like my Boh-Boh!
