She's ignoring me :(

Postby Luna Bella on Mon Oct 20, 2008 10:44 pm

Luna has been molting for the last few days and keeping to herself :( We leave the cage door open, but she seems content to stay alone gazing out the window, preening (what a surprise!) and eating!! She sure is eating a lot lately. When and if she comes to me it's for a few minutes and that's it - very uncharacteristic behavior for her.

I hope it will last just a few days.

Jo

I think a lot of birds feel just a tad bit offish when molting. Give her some time and I am sure she will return to her former self.

It's really obvious to me when my lovie is molting.......normally he is all over the place, up to no good, but when he is going through a molt, he spends more time preening and staying in one place, and much better behaved! In a way it's good, but I know he's uncomfortable when I see a change like that :( Poor birdies.....growing new feathers is such hard work! so itchy and uncomfortable!

Hi Jo,

You know, Luna might be "stocking up" for the winter. None of mine have shown that behavior, but there are so many, it's hard to observe individual habits other than Gizmo, who for the last few days has been like velcro. Anyhow, Luna might be doing her survival thing..

The behavior is normal.Maybe because she is molting.Always not on mood.
