New playgym!

Postby mytielwoody on Mon Sep 22, 2008 9:59 am

I found this playgym being sold on craigslist........http://albany.craigslist.org/pet/839372263.html
for only 50 bucks......not bad, and it is quite big. I've seen these before online and they are pretty expensive, so I know this is a good deal. I'm thinking that this will be for Woody and Boss because they have been kind of taking a back seat at times to the other two who are more demanding......plus the size of this is just perfect for them! Boss has become more a toy player lately also, so I think that they will really enjoy this! I will be picking it up this weekend......will post some pics of them on it afterwards!

That looks great! I'd give it a good cleaning and let it sit in the sun for a full 8 hrs JIC the story isn't the full truth. Hope your two love it

Kind of hard for me to see much detail, but your younger eyes see more than my old peepers do. At least the person is honest about it not being used if she has no birds. Still I'd give it a very good cleaning with dilute clorox water solution and let it dry. Shame on you for letting the other two kids take more of your time :) BTW, why don't you empty your mailbox.. I try to send stuff and it always says your mailbox is full...

Oh, don't worry......I make sure Woody and Boss get their time and some out time.....just some days, ya know? Some days they lose out to the others because they are perfectly happy in their cage and seem to love being in their cage too......whereas the other two go nuts if they're in the cage for a few minutes! They are......Let me outa here! birds! Woody and Boss like having their own space where nobirdy can bother them! ......and they can mate! :P Ivy now immitates their sounds that they make when the mate....crazy birds!
Sorry about the mailbox Sam.....I try to empty it out, but I get so much darn junk mail filling it right back up! I'll try to do better!!!!

That's a nice playgym! The bird shop where I bought Button GAVE me a large wooden play gym. I had also bought a plastic gym for the budgies but they all seem to like the wood gym gym the best. $50.00 seems like a good price especially since the ad claims it has never been used :D
I know what you mean by some of the birds can hog most of the attention. At least you are aware of that and is doing something to make the "less demanding ones" happy :) As you know, Button is very needy so I am always trying to find things to keep her busy and happy. She loves this new chewy perch. I'll buy anything so long as it keeps her from picking at herself.

My other two are my little monster lovie Pip, and Ivy I've had now for five months, she is a blueheaded pionus. Both of these two are ALWAYS out! the demand it! So when Woody and Boss are out, all four are usually out, so I have to be right there watching over them every second. Ivy does good, she stays put pretty much, but she doesn't like it when Woody and Boss are out on their OWN cage! She thinks that is HERS! lol It's hard because the only way so far I have gotten Woody and Boss to eat any veggies is when they are out of cage......they won't eat them when they are in. I always make days just for Woody and Boss though where they come first! They are my "good birds'! but yeah some days the others seem to take over....I know Woody and Boss don't mind much, and yes I am very aware of the situation......I handle it the best I can, and as long as all birdies are happy......and they always are! then I think I do ok!
The person giving up this playgym I believe is a good honest person because they belong to a group of volunteers for this new animal shelter that is supposed to be built......I had signed up too to volunteer for this but haven't heard anything back from anyone yet. I will still clean up the playgym good......but I'm quite sure no birds were ever on it.......the fading of color is actually good.....it's probably food coloring and I took Pip's apart and soaked it to get rid of the color, and he still ends up with rosey cheeks after he takes a bath! lol he rubs his face on his playgym and the color still comes off a little bit.
Anyway, yeah I thought this playgym was a really good deal, and would be really good to get for the tiels! I was surprised it wasn't taken already, but now it's mine!! .....well......Woody and Boss's!

Wow! That play gym is awesome and you got such a good deal. I am still looking for a good play gym for Raisin and the budgie, but haven't been able to find anything that I think is worthwhile online or in stores. Does anybody know where I can get something like this new? Ofcourse, I'll be checking on craigslist and other places too, but I'd be willing to buy something as nice as that new.

Well, I emailed the person on craigslist that sold that gym and they were nice enough to email me back and let me know where they originally purchased that gym. It is on a website called www.birdgymsrus.com. The same play gym is there and even though they have many others that are nice, I really like the design of that one especially for two birds to play on together. The only thing is that it is quite a bit more expensive now than when they purchased it. But, I'm really considering it because it is soooooo nice. You got a fantastic deal for $50!!!!

YES! I know! I grabbed that one right up as soon as I saw it.......I couldn't believe that it wasn't sold already because I only noticed the add about a week or two after it was posted. The thing is huge! I can't believe how big it is! and it has a nice swing, and things on it to hang toys off of.....it is very nice and I got a good deal! I also got a good deal on my tiel's cage on craigslist......I found it for only 50 dollars! a nice big HQ flight cage in perfect shape! and they absolutely love their cage! I had to drive an hour away to get it, but that was before gas got too high and was very worth it! Gotta love craigslist! I've made out pretty good there so far.....I even found my lovie on craigslist! He was being given up for free with cage! of course I still gave him something, I wasn't going to just take him for nothing.....we got our patio set on craigslist, and also a really great tandem kayak that retails for 6 or 7 hundred, we got it for 350.......not bad!

I bought a spare king's cage for (bird) boarders for $40.00 on craigslist and a pair of force fins (special scuba fins that are only sold in California) for $25.00 (they retail at least for $165.00) so there are definitely deals to be had!
My only problem I had with craigslist is I had posted an ad for my pet sitting service and it would constainly get flagged. I see there are tons of other pet sitter ads posted so I do not why mine was continually getting flagged. My email address eventually got blocked from craigslist because of the flagging. I tried contacting craigslist to find out what I did that was wrong and how I could correct it but they kept sending me a "form letter" response but still no answer. I can only guess spammers & scammers flagged my ad since I would ignore their "Hi I am visiting from Nigeria..can you watch my cat...?"
