my tiels Noah and Meg have got babies, there are 6 eggs and I saw two little yellow fluffballs this morning when I had a split second to peek in the box

Great news of course BUT.........Noah has been in the box all day and whenever Meg flies to the box and sit on the perch he chases her away and really attacks her
Is this normal behaviour??
Also, I could hear the bubbies this morning but can not hear them anymore
I am really worried Noah has become so overprotective he might be thinking he is doing the right thing but is NOT

Anyone got any ideas???

phew our prayers got answered and Meg is in the box at least
Noah came out and pigged out, then went back in but he hasn't made Meg come out again so fingers crossed he IS actually doing it right

Haven't peeked today

Noah has been a great daddy today, he is in and out of the box and Meg is pretty much constantly in there so he must be doing the main share of the feeding at the moment.
I hope Megs gets fed too though haven't seen her out for quite some time now
Pfff what a little pest Noah is, yesterday he wouldn't let her in the box, and today it appears he is not letting her out

Sometimes the male will try to "hog" the eggs, but eventually, the duty of incubation and feeding will get shared. On our last clutch, Missy spent much more time feeding than Smokey, but the first clutch was exactly opposite. Smokey did more incubation and feeding, eventually not even letting Missy get to the chicks for several days. In the end, it takes both to keep them fed, especially when they start demanding more and more food.

Congratulations on the new babies.. hope they are all healthy and strong.
