my cockatiel is gone forever......... :(

Postby jihae1200 on Sat Sep 13, 2008 10:06 am

My small fluffy Ruth (my female) is gone. My dad was bringing them back inside the house at night and the cage broke. Ruth hopped out and flew away. And it was too late to do anything. She wont come back she wasnt tame and she didnt like me even though i loved her. Boaz is very sad he keeps chirping for her but there is no happy chirp back. :( :( :( i will always miss that little bird.

How about recording Boaz & then playing it--loudly--while you search the neighborhood? She might answer him when she wouldn't respond to you. And mytielwoody is right. I have several friends who have tiels' that turned up in their yards, too tired/hungry to fly away & whose owners never advertised/posted in the area. And let the local vets know, too.

I'm so sorry that is so heartbreaking when that happens.. But don't give up hope, miracles do happen. I had my miracle happen when Rosie flew out the door, it was alot of work but sooooooo worth it a month later when I got her back. Good Luck.

Sorry to hear she got away.. I know how you feel, and by all means, try to locate her, and expend whatever amount of effort it takes to get the word out. I'm still so lost without our Chibi..

Do not give up so easily.... post online lost bird cites-- google "lost bird", and post, and post, and post!

Here are links that provide tips to help find your lost bird:

    http://www.cafabirdclub.org/lost.htm

    http://www.parrotparrot.com/articles/aa062400.htm

    http://www.gomestic.com/Pets/How-to-Fin ... ird.131251

    http://www.ehow.com/how_2076085_lost-pet-bird.html

    Other tips:

Put her cage outside with food and water, with the door open.

Scatter seed on your roof--she will be hungry

Post lost signs at vets and wherever else you can.

Put her mate outside to call for her--if she hears him, she will go to him. It is early, she hasn't gotten very far

    Good luck,

    Jackie
