Fatso's

Postby chibi-tori on Tue Sep 09, 2008 12:14 pm

I got a wild hair this afternoon and decided to weigh some of my kids.. gosh did I ever get a surprise. I thought Missy was one of the heavyweights, but boy was I wrong. She weighed in at 104 grams, but Suzie came in at 114 grams. Gizmo takes the cake at 121 grams, and he does not even feel fat. I can't feel his keelbone very much, but he is a big birdie too. Suzie didn't like me for a few minutes afterwards of the dark room capture, but she's sitting on my shoulder perfectly happy with Chirp, Gizmo, Missy, and Shelly dancing around on the desktop with Cappy climbing around on my sock feet! It's wonderful to be loved and needed by my kids, and after almost a month of constant work on the other house, I guess they are letting me know they really do miss me :)

Many happy birdies to everybody

Sam

Button weighed 122grams. She has always been a very large tiel but she is not fat. When she was being treated with anti-fungal meds she was down to 88 grams which was a concern for me because she wasn't eating
Twillinger (my budgie) is grossly obese. She weighs 72 grams. I hardly ever see her eat and when she does, she eats veggies. Her cage mate is slim and weighs 38 grams. She was large when she was born. Her mother was a load too. Twillinger is flighted and she comes out to fly for exercise. My guess is that Smitty feeds her. (He is her mate)The rest of the budgies are healthy and slim. The do eat seeds but they enjoy the harrison's mash and fresh veggies. They come out of their cages and fly around too so they are not "perch potatoes". I do not let them eat my scones or muffins either.

I am in the same boat Sam.....Boss is one big girl! I haven't weighed her lately, but she is pretty heavy as well. Woody is still a little wimp though......I think he'll always be small! I always get all these comments on Boss from people about how big she is......she gets called fat all the time, and it does look as if she may have some fat on her.....she looks so round sometimes! BUT she is very strong and muscular, so I know she has the muscle too.....just pick her up and you can feel it, you can feel her strength when she squirms. She is very active, so I know she gets enough excersize.....she doesn't eat much in the way of veggies, but she does eat some, and some pellets too.
