Having moved into our new house with a brand new oven, I wanted to set it to CLEAN before using it for the first time.

I know there has been talk about self-cleaning ovens and birds, but I wanted to say that my manual for the new oven even mentioned taking your birds out of the house or putting them into a secure, well-ventilated room.

I was pretty impressed by that.

All went well, we put the birds upstairs in the master bedroom, with the door closed and the bathroom fan on. Downstairs, we put fans on and opened the sliding glass door.

But it is great that they acknowledged that in the instructions. I think I might need to write them a letter to tell them...Good Job!

Thats great that they included that!! Do you mind me asking what brand it was? I like them already.

I wish that our birdies were included in more. Just like you can walk into any store and pick up a cat or dog toy but you can't do that with bird toys. I wish they were included in more than they are, just in general.

I am glad the oven company had that advisory in regards to birds!
When I bought my house It did not have an oven so I had special ordered an oven that was NOT a self cleaning oven. The Sears people thought I was nuts to pay more for an oven that wasn't a self cleaner. The funny part is my oven is super clean because I do not worry about scratching any "special" coating off!

It is a Whirlpool brand oven.
