Jealousy?

Postby Rosies Mommy on Sun Aug 17, 2008 6:18 pm

I am wondering if any of you have experienced this as I do with my Baby Rosie. Just a few examples.

One day I had my friend Matt over and when I introduced him to Rosie she acted like she was gonna bite him and then ran up my arm.

Another day I came home and a girlfriend of mine came with me and Rosie was so angry towards me when we walked in. She went with me but she didn't want me to touch her or anything.

A couple of nights ago my hairdresser/friend, came over to cut my hair and of course Rosie was on my shoulder when I answered the door. My friend walks in and tells Rosie "Hi Sweetie" and Rosie screams at her and runs up my arm and behind my head. Then the rest of the night she would yell at me all the time I would try to touch her, she would still hang out with my where ever I was and she even went into the room with us when I was getting my hair cut and she just sat there and preened and entertained herself on the table.

These are just a few examples. But if I have company Rosie seems to get really upset with me and I never leave her out, I bring her with us if we go into another room, I talk to her and kiss her and tell her how much Momma loves her just like I always do. I don't leave her out, I don't ignore her or treat her differently when I have company. I feel so bad that she gets visibly upset. Does this happen to you guys too? The funny thing is if someone comes to visit my Mom it's like she knows because she don't mind it at all. But she knows when company is for me cuz it upsets her and I hate her being upset.

Rosie thinks that you are her mate this is why she is "miss pissypants" to what she percieves as possible suitors (competition for your love).
Fresh Baby (one of my lutinos) is in love with my husband. She will scream and try to bite anyone who goes near him.
Right now Rosie is very hormonal so that is why she is like this :?

Awww, poor Baby and thats why I make sure to include her when I have company so that she don't think that shes gonna be pushed to the side cuz someone else is around.

I think maybe Rosie just needs to get used to company coming over.....she is used to having you all to herself! I know you say she gets upset......but no one's life goes by without them getting upset about SOMEthing! If it was me, I would try to have company over regularly to try to get her used to it. You think you got it bad......try having Ivy.......she is so afraid of strangers coming into the house.....she flies off to the floor (because she's clipped) and runs around shreiking! and hers is not an "upset" kinda thing....it's a real fear for her, so it's a little harder to deal with.....I'm still hoping she will get better about this with time, but so far it isn't looking like she will, very much anyway.
Woody, Boss and Pip are all pretty social, love people, love going outside, going places....nothing really phases them.....I don't even think they miss us very much when we go away on vacation!
I love how you try to include Rosie when company comes over.......you seem to do all that you can..... Rosie just a mamma's girl. I think she might get over this in time if you expose her enough to company coming over.

We get company pretty often. I have a huge family 4 sisters and 3 brothers including cousins, nieces, nephews etc... So we have company its just like she totally knows when they are friends, she is so smart. And she knows when the company is for my mom even tho we all sit around visiting with each other she knows. it's crazy how she seems to know. Thanks, I do try to include Rosie in everything, I wouldn't want her to feel that shes not loved just cuz someone is around. SHes my Baby :).

Poor Ivy, that does not sound good at all. What Rosie does is almost cute but what Ivy does sounds like it's scary to her, really scary.. Hopefully she will get over it because it sounds like that is stressful for her.

My female loves company, and she loves men, in particular. Most of the time she is a mama's girl, but not if there are men! My son recently visited, and after she got to know him, she was friendly with him. She didn't seem overly affectionate, but after he left she screamed for a week! When I walked by the bedroom he stayed in, she flew to his pillow and screamed some more. She flirts with my husband constantly, but he isn't interested in playing with her, so she has to be content with looking.
