I was just wondering....

Postby jihae1200 on Thu May 08, 2008 8:59 pm

I dont think my tiels wil ever lay eggs but in case they ever did(which I am trying to prevent) and they hatched, would it be ok if when it was time to start handfeeding them it would be just as good to parcially hand feed them and part parent feeding them as if they were comepletly hand fed?

handfeeding is something that you have to DO or OBSERVE to do it correctly. It's really super easy to kill or seriously injure a baby bird trying to handfeed. Co-parenting is even trickier, and not a good idea for first time parents or first time breeders. The best thing you could do is ensure that if they lay eggs, you boil them, let them cool, and give them back to the birds.

The world has plenty of cockatiels already.

I would not kill them! I would let them hatch but wouldnot sell them. I would keep them!

If you tiels start laying eggs, they will probably continue to lay eggs. You are going to keep EVERY SINGLE bird that hatches, if it lives? If you let your cockatiels breed and they have several babies, that's unrealistic.
