Sleeping Weird

Postby Rosies Mommy on Mon Apr 28, 2008 11:04 am

This is so odd. I used to have a perch on the upper part of Rosies house that she would sleep on and she stopped sleeping "upstairs" so I took it off and in the day I just put toys up there that she hangs on and plays with.. So about a week ago I noticed that she was starting to sleep upstairs sitting on this little clip that I have in her cage to hang veggies on. She looked so uncomfortable cuz the clip was so small. So I took the clip out and I put a perch there, the perch didn't go all the way across so she started sleeping with one foot on the perch and one foot on the cage bar. So THEN I connected the perch to the other side of the cage since obviously thats the side she was set on sleeping on. So last night I got up in the middle of the night and I went to check on her like I do all the time I wake up in the middle of the night and she was still sleeping with one foot on the perch and one holding onto the side cage bar. I feel so bad cuz it looks uncomfortable and it's not just a one or two time thing shes been doing it for like a week now. I haven't changed anything in her surroundings that could have brought this on. I wonder what is going on :?:

Sammy does domething similar every night. I have a bowl that hooks to the side of their cage and he likes to lift one side of the bowl so that it unhooks on one side and hangs down. He sleeps on the ledge of this dish, at a slant, every night. He seems to love it and is very content, so I let it be. :)

Some birds sleep upside down... or laying on their backs. I have one budgie who used to sleep in a strange position! She'd climb to the top of the cage, one foot on the side, one foot on the ceiling, then she'd flip herself over, doing the splits! She has slept in another awkward position as well, which I can't recall ATM...

I saw pictures of another budgie who slept in practically the same position, only she was in the corner of a cage, not at the top, with each foot on a differnet side!

It may look uncomfortable, but nothing to worry about!

my guess is she wouldn't do it if it was uncomfortable, so i'd let it be.

And sings the tune without words
And never stops at all.

Thanks Guys, it really does look uncomfortable and I worry that something is causing her not to sleep comfortably. But if other birds do this I guess I will try not to worry about it. I wonder why after a year she just started this.. Silly Girl!
