Well, it turns out Sunny was a bit stingy with the blood this time. Vet tried to get some from his neck - no luck there. Then he got some from his leg - just a little bit and Sunny was not pleased. The vet then wrapped a bandage around Sunny's leg to apply pressure and put Sunny down on the floor. We all had a good time watching Sunny get that bandage off.
So... the vet didn't get enough blood to run a full panel. He did test the glucose - it was just a little high - he said not to worry about it and he was able to get the liver function which he said looked good.
The vet is calling this Pancreatitis, not Diabetes and is recommending that I just keep an eye on his urine output and test it occasionally to see if the glucose level is going up.
Sunny is a lucky birdie.
