So we are still at 5 eggs as far as I know, I have not been able to look for the last 2 days. Tiki or Tango are in the nestbox 24/7 and I can't open it without Tiki attacking. I was a little concerned about Tango becoming egg bound because of her seed only diet and the fact that she is not free flighted. Yesterday she had a hump, so she came out today and I wrapped her in a hand towel and checked her out really good, felt her belly and it is not hard the hump seems to be gone. She bit me and pooped everywhere but I feel alot better knowing she is O.K.! I will keep you posted if anything changes ... just waiting for hatching now!

Lori,

It's possible Tango is done laying, and especially if she's not laid in 3 days. Not sure how long they could go and still drop one, but Missy never went more than 2 days between eggs. It's quite amazing how their attitudes towards people change when there are eggs in the equation, and while Smokey never really attempt to bite me or attack, Missy was terribly aggressive with this last clutch. As you say, now just sit back and wait on the hatching process, unless you can get them off the eggs long enough to recandle them, and the ones you've not done. I'd give the last 2-3 eggs at least 7-8 days before candling, that way you'll be sure to have either clear eggs, or fertile, no questions asked. BTW, do you have any pics posted anywhere of Tiki and Tango? I'd like to see what they look like..

Hey Sam,

I was able to check today ... still 5 eggs. I'm sure she is done laying too. I don't know if I will re-attempt the candling. They are getting more and more possesive every day. It really upsets them when I go near the Nestbox. I posted some pictures awhile back, I was asking about mutations ... here they are again :D

Thanks for the pic links Lori. You are going to have some wonderful babies from that pair. Tango is gorgeous, and as you said about Shelly, they are quite the lookers :) I'm not into genetics, but Monica would probably be able to tell you what the chicks might turn out to be.

If they are really aggressive towards you when you come close, it's probably not worth the risks of re-candling the eggs. I'm just curious tho, how they will react when you have to start cleaning the poo out of the nest box. I'm hoping by then, they will have figured out you're not going to hurt the chicks, and will at least give you a chance to do the cleaning. You might want to "push the issue" with them, but away from the nest.

Thanks Sam ... I am going to have to be fast, putting the paper over the hole was a great idea and that is what I plan to do when the leave to eat! I'm sure it will all work out fine, now it is just a waiting game
