There should be a two digit number that runs perpendicular to the tag that says the hatch date. That is if the breeder updated their bands every year.

I don't know about a website that you could look them up on, good luck with that part.

On my cockatiel's band it says AAA----should I call a tow truck???haha! what does that mean? and a four digit number. I know his approximate age, but I would love to find out what day he was hatched. I know he came from california, they told me the pet store.

    AAA band

Postby bostonbudgie on Mon Nov 27, 2006 9:10 am

I would be interested in where that AAA Band originated. Over two years ago a friend of mine found a young male teil with a band that started with AAA in Boston. I tried helping her finding the owner by every means (911parrotalert.com, bird clubs, vet offices, pet shops ect...) no luck. So he has stayed with me ever since .

Wow, that is interesting------I guess I can ask at the pet store for more info. The only thing they did tell me is that he was hand fed and raised somewhere in california. I guess Petco must have breeders there that they get their birds from. Seems an aweful long ways away though doesn't it? They must fly them here----no wonder they are so expensive! I got my bird from Petco, I will go there and try asking more. I have tried emailing them but never get any answers------I will let you what I find out.

I asked the local Petco here, and they told me they got their cockatiels from several places in FL. Guess it depends on who has what available maybe. OR, it could be the person I asked at Petco had misinformation.

All but one of mine came from a local breeder.

I think maybe it does have to do with who has what available. I notice in Petco that other birds have different bands with different colors and letters on them. I did also notice that there is always a tiel or two in there with that AAA band, so I know my Petco here in Pittsfield still gets birds from the same place where my bird came from. The guy there in charge of the birds told me that their tiels came from california----I will find out for sure though.

    Ok I got this website---http://buddysfriends.com/registry.html
According to it, there a few aviaries with the AAA on it's band. Two are in california where the guy at petco said my bird came from, the other is in canada, so I am thinking it is one of the two from california. One of them, the email does not work and there is no phone number, and the other one I have emailed and waiting on a response, I will let you know,

I just wanted to let you know that I did recieve a response from a guy named Tony @ redbird products-----they make the bands, and he asked for more info, so I sent him an email and never got a response back from it. Strange because he sent the first one right away. I tried sending again and still nothing-------also I never got any response from anyone else I emailed about the AAA band. The only thing Tony said was "the AAA was the customers choice of marks" once he knows the other marks he could give more info. I keep trying, I will let u know when I hear something.
