UGH! So Upset!

Postby Rosies Mommy on Tue Jun 19, 2007 8:44 pm

I don't understand why bad things keep happening to my Rosie!! I feel like such a horrible parent and I try so hard..

Today her stupid stand fell apart and her cage came tumbling down.. Luckily my Mom seen it (I was at work) and she jumped up and done her best to catch her cage before it hit the ground. She did but my Baby fell from the top (inside) portion of her house to the bottom and  all but 2 of her tail feathers fell/broke off .. UGh I feel so horrible for her.. I know they will probably grow back but when? How long will it take? I'm so pissed about the stand and upset that she had to endure that accident. Gosh people probably think I abuse my baby girl first the phone incident and now THIS!!! And they were all her pretty tail feathers too the ones with a bunch of yellow in em. I hope it didn't hurt her :(.. She used to shake her booty and fan out all her pretty tail feathers and now she only has 2 she lost 13 of em :(..

Gee rosiesmommy, that's terrible! You know the other things that happened didn't seem too bad, but this, must have really scared her! and now almost her whole tail is gone?? poor baby! Tail feathers I think take the longest to grow back in. Woody had lost a few back when we first got him and his flying wasn't so great and they took a while to grow back, but they do grow back---probably quicker than you think. I hope rosie is doing ok now, as long as she's happy and not hurt then I wouldn't really worry too much about the feathers----those darn tail feathers are too long anyway! Poor rosie been having the worst luck! hugs and kisses to u rosie!

Don't worry - it isn't anything some cuddling couldn't take care of :D I don't remember the phone incident -but this wasn't your fault so don't feel guilty.

Me on the other hand - I'm surprised she made it to a year and a half!! We sent her into shock last Memorial Day weekend trying to get the stupid feather tether on her - yes she was in shock and looked like this  with the difference being her mouth was wide open too. Poor thing didn't do a thing for 5 hours!!! No food - not even millet!, water, chirps - nothing.

Then in Jan. she got spooked and flew out the garage door (she had to navigate through 3 rooms!) when it was 50 outside. Thank God we found her about 1 1/2 hours later.

And again on Memorial Day weekend she broke a blood feather!.

Moral of the stories - poop happens - do the best you can, cause that's all you can do.

By the way, Luna broke her tail feathers all the time until she was about a year old. Now her tail is beautiful and full - she hasn't broken a tail feather in almost a year.

It's so upsetting when something happens to our babies. I know we feel so guilty because they totally depend on us and as much as we try we can't prevent everything bad from happening. I don't have human children, I would equate it to what parents feel for their kids when they have accidents. And remember it was an accident. She's okay. Tail feathers grown back. Give her lots of love and some extra treats and all will be right with her world soon enough!

I hope it didn't hurt her when they broke off :(.. So losing all her tail feathers will effect her flying?? UGH poor baby.. And now knowing that they take the longest to grow back my poor Baby :(..

I seriously need to buy her a new cage and throw that stupid stand as far as I can. Thank God My Mom caught it before it hit the ground I don't even wanna think about what would have happened if Rosie fell out and the cage fell on top of her  ..

Jo, I remember reading about all 3 of those incidents I think next memorial day you need to lock yourself in a big room with your baby and a few toys away from everything. That don't seem to be her luckiest day.
