I agree, I think they need to replace those employees with ones who care-----retrain, yeah right! I hope their retraining included----do your job responsibly or your out the door! No, I wasn't really looking for a response to my email, just letting them know that this is upsetting to alot of people and make sure they know that something NEEDS to be done, one way or another----they can handle the problem and everything's fine, or they won't and we will raise hell! I really hate to be the person working in that pet store if jackie goes back there and theres no food and water! yikes!

In his reply, the owner said he was inspecting the store at least twice weekly, and he will ensure that the animals are properly cared for... and you are right... when I pop in, they better have food and water... or hell will be raised!

ANy updates regarding petland?

I read the letter that Veronica sent and I thought I'd just look up the headquarters online and would you believe it's in OHIO??!! I may have missed a post about it, but I'm floored that it's in the actual state and the first thing Petland says on there site is "Petland Cares"

Well, I got mad too. I sent this letter:

To Petland Operations:

I am the proud owner of a white-faced cockatiel. I am disgusted and appalled at the treatment of the cockatiels at Petland in the Chapel Hill Mall in Akron, Ohio. These birds are continually denied adequate food and clean water. Your corporate office is in the same state and this problem goes unnoticed and unresolved.



“Petland Cares” is the motto of this establishment. If this is how Petland cares, you should be as appalled as am. Action needs to be taken and taken NOW. I live in Valparaiso, Indiana and am in very close proximately to at least 4 Petland franchises. This cruel treatment of helpless animals will not go unnoticed. I will not buy anything from Petland in the future and will urge my entire circle of friends who not only own cockatiels, but own cats, fish, reptiles and your biggest money maker, puppies, not to purchase anything from Petland and to seek out reputable pet stores who care about the health and welfare of there animals. I will notify the local veterinarian clinics in the area of this situation as well. If the local law enforcement in Akron Ohio doesn’t take action, let it be known that good, responsible pet owners and animal lovers around the nation will.



This is not a threat, but a promise of action. Good people will see that what is going on at this location in Akron, Ohio is wrong. Maybe the media will see it the same way.
