Cheap Comfy Perch

Postby Mercy4Free on Fri Jun 08, 2007 9:34 pm

I just wanted to share what I discovered by accident.

I have recently gotten my cockatiel. When I was looking at the petstore, I noticed how expensive the "comfy" rope perches were.

I went to the Dollar Tree (called Greenbacks in some places) and had bought a dog rope toy that look like I could use it as a swing...well that didn't work, but unknotting it and stretching out the rope worked great as a comfy perch! My bird LOVES his rope perch......just simpply knot the rope to the width of your cage (the knots will be outside the cage), or do like I did and wrap the rope through the bars until it was all taken up. Charlie loves it and it only cost a buck!

Hey, that's a really great idea! I wish I knew-----already have two of those comfy perches, but actually if you shop around for them, you can find them for a decent price----in pet stores they sometimes charge alot for them, but sometimes you can find them in the pet section of a store for around 7 bucks, that is the smaller size one, which seems to go good in my tiels cage----the size is big enough for a good size cage.

You can also make your own rope perches. All you need is some thick wire (that bends but not too easily), some cotton rope, and some sort of end caps. Much cheaper that way if you can get the supplies.

I think that's an excellent idea. My Mandi inherited two "comfy perches" and just loves them. You are right, they are expensive.
