Yes, the vet did do a gram stain. I am waiting for results. Unfortunely it's past their closing time now. I tried to call again, got the answering machine. :?

I have Misi her first dose of antibiotics. Although I did have to hold her in a towel, she kinda drank it down herself.... seems to like the taste. No sneezing afterwards.

I guess I'll see what happens tomorrow

Well, it's 5am CST. I have to leave for work at 5:45, so I'm waking up the tiels early to give Misi her antibiotic, fresh food and water before I have to leave. She had me a little worried yesterday evening because she decided to sit on the bottom of her cage, she's never done that before. I had set down a clean towel so she didn't have to sit on the grate. I have already peeked in on her and she's resting back up on her favorite perch.

I'll be calling the vet this morning from work to find out about the gram stain. I'm so not happy they didn't call me yesterday :x

Gram stain negative. + for some bacteria though which she feels indicates an upper respiratory tract infection.

She's doing about the same today. No better. Maybe a tiny bit worse. I cant get her to eat and I'm forcing fluids so she is very unhappy with me. Better unhappy than the alternative :(

Sounds like the vet should admit her for treatment . IF she doesnt keep her warm, calm and offer her up some warm(not hot) mooshy foods , perhaps some bird formula , some baby foods like peas , sweet potatoes , or even some toast , perhaps offer her up some luke warm water from a cup to get her to drink and perhaps phone a few other vets to see what they say .Now is not the time for them to not see her . Did they give her some baytril for the infection ? I think that you may have more reason to be concerned now that she is a bit worse , this could turn out bad if treatment is not recieved for her NOW !! waiting only makes it harder and worse to treat. Simply put dont wait find some one or tell her to take a proactive approach NOW !

I would be on the phone with the vet again. Keep her warm with the lamp on near her cage and mostly covered so there aren't any drafts. Keep up with the food and liquids. If the vet isn't helping you to your satisfaction, call someone else.

I can't beleive that they made you wait this long for a gram stain test.. I took Rosie in today and they checked hers out while we waited in the room. THey came back within 10-15 minutes with meds for her.. I am so sorry shes not doing any better. I can't even imagine how scared and worried you must be.. I will pray for her tonight when I pray for my Rosie..

The beneficial part of the suns rays are filtured out through window screens and the windows themselves... which is why the vet suggested buying a UV/FS light that could provide the beneficial parts of the sunlight while indoors.

Best of luck with your tiels!
