When I brought boss home, I had left him in the cage with door open so he could come out if he pleased. He was used to being out all day and also being around a bunch of other birds. I had taken woody out one day and when boss saw him, he just bolted right out of the cage towards him, so that took care of the quarantine, which I'm really not too worried about because boss looks like a very healthy bird----I am planning a vet visit for boss for a checkup and to be dna tested. I may bring woody too since he has never been to the vet and also I would like to hear what a vet has to say about woody's weight and size.
Well, when boss flew to woody, woody also flew towards him and they both ended up on the floor not really too close to each other, so I figured I would just pick them both up and put them on the couch together. It was just the cutest thing, woody started singing to boss and he has never done this outside of his cage. Since the two have been together, they seem to just love each other and each has a fit if I take one from the other. They do have some little conflicts once in a while and will kinda start to fight and go at each other with their beaks, but I'm thinking this will pass because they love being together, and just hate being apart. I had to move their cages close together, and they seem ok with that. I am hoping that because boss and woody seem to have the same exact reaction to each other, that maybe boss really is a male. Woody has changed some since boss came along----and I see him immitate things boss does. Boss has been great----but his quietness worries me that he is a she, and also when he's out and he flies, he is a much stronger, faster flyer than woody and tends to fly into things, mostly the wall. His wings are clipped too, I would hate to see how fast he flies with them fully grown out!
Ok well..........here are the boys---(hopefully)

yes, they absolutely HATE being taken apart from each other! they both have a fit and start yelling anytime they are too far apart! They really seem to like each other alot, and I'm hoping that it isn't because they are boy and girl! The cutest thing though was watching woody when he first saw boss and seeing him sing to boss. They are both doing great, but will fight sometimes, so cannot be trusted yet together in a cage alone. OHHH----notice the red in boss's eyes in those pics! that is how I noticed it when I saw the pics-----woody's eyes never show up red like that in any pics

Oh Lord.....that just did it for me as far as deciding whether or not to get a sibling for Sherwin. How cute are they!!!! I have often wondered if Sherwin would be happier having another bird in the house.

Yes, it will be interesting. Today though I looked really closely under boss's tail and I think I saw some faint barring! I am going to look some more and have my boyfriend check it out and if he agrees and I am not seeing things, then I guess we have a girl after all. Still unsure, and will have to check things out further, but the fact that boss is so quiet is really making me suspicious as well. Yes, sherwinsmom, they really are adorable together------just the cutest thing ever! they cuddle up sometimes too, very cute-----the down side of this though is now I loose my one on one time with woody---he doesn't want to hang out with me anymore and be my little cuddle birdie------he just wants to be with boss! I still try and maybe this will change, but for right now, take one too far from the other and they both can't stand it-----have to go to the other, so woody won't stay with me for long, he will try to get back to boss and run from me :( so if I want woody, I have to take boss too! tomorrow I am off and am calling to check on that appt for boss, still really hoping he is a boy!

Kim, welcome to the world of jealous birdies.... :) Imagine doing that with 5 birdies ON you! LOL You have a situation where you have to try to cuddle both at the same time, but uf like mine, they will fight to see who gets center chest attention AND both hands <grin> You'll get used to it, but they might or might not. I'm just so happy for Woody that he has a birdie buddy even if S(he) turns out to be a little girl. Nothing can be better for a male bird than to have a mate, whether egg laying commences sometime or not. Let them create their destiny, but keep them bonded to you at the same time. It can be done, but takes a lot of your time and patience to do it.

Good birdie's lol

Horray for Woody and Boss... partners in crime :D:

Oh I know it can be done, and boss already looks at me sometimes like he wants to come over to me, so he is warming up. I know----I was dead set on getting another male, and I really tried! this person had this bird posted as a boy, and I just trusted her, and obviously she doesn't have a clue or she would have at LEAST known he was a lutino and not a pied! but, now we have him/her and watching them together and seeing how much they like each other, how could I take boss back? Plus, boss is a great bird, and looks very strong and healthy. At least the person who I got boss from keeps all her animals there happy and healthy even if she doesn't have a clue as to their sex or what type of birds she has! She really seemed to go all out for animals and take great care of them.
