Don't worry, I plan on playing it safe and keeping them apart for a while. The ladies name is Lisa, not sure the last name, will check and send it to you.

Yes I know boss looks like a lutino----I've been told he is a pied though. Some people from my friend Lin's bird rescue went to check this lady out and her illegitimate rescue.(where boss is) They found all of her animals to appear healthy and happy and cages were very clean and lots of food and fresh water, so at least the animals there are well taken care of. I guess the people involved with rescues who are registered, they are inspected and have to follow rules, so when they see people like this lady who claim they are rescue and can just do whatever they want, they don't like it too much and claim that people who do this can give a bad name to real rescues and also are in it for money, where as Lin's rescue is not for profit. Ok so that would just make her like a pet store---apparently they think she will just give a bird to anyone who comes along and wants to pay for it. Real rescues are more careful who they give their birds to I guess. Honestly though I think this lady does care alot for animals and where they go because she offered to give me for free a female tiel that is ten years old and is also is boss's mom. I'm thinking she might be worried that they may not find a home for her because of her age. I've been thinking about it, not really sure though if I want to take a female. This sunday is the big day! six days and counting! :)

Kim,

If you can find out any history between Boss and his mother, by all means, do so. Unless Boss has a tendency to try to mate with his momma, you might be good with her in tow. Very difficult to judge at that age, and it's quite possible if they were ever separated, neither would recognize the other as being parent/child. You might also be pleasantly surprised how well a 10 year old 'tiel can be. I'd be willing to bet, with lots of TLC and a good safe home, she'd turn out to be a very sweet affectionate birdie, son present or not. Not sure how Woody would react to the pair, but I'd venture a guess, he'd pout for a bit and may do so even with Boss, once he learns you have another birdie on the hook, but time might fix that too. My suggestion....... do what your heart says you should do. You really can't go wrong that way.

Sam, wish that was true!!! Kirby (adopted) and Sunshine are siblings. I don't know if they came from the same clutch or not, however are at least around the same age... and apparently, being related didn't make a difference to either one of them when hormones were raging! However, on the plus side, no eggs produced, thus no need to worry!

On that same note, I had taken in a bourke pair and one of their daughters... the father was always hormonal so he'd go to anyone willing... had to separate the daughter as she started laying eggs and I didn't want any to hatch! Needless to say, she layed all of them off a perch, so they all cracked...

So in short, if they are hormonal, it doesn't matter WHO they are or are not related to!

I'm thinking boss and his mom have probably always been together, and was told that she is already very sweet and very tame. I'm sure she's a great a bird, and was told that boss seems much calmer around her. My first instinct is to not take the female, but when I think about it some more, I hate leaving her behind and wondering if at ten years old she will find a good home. If there was some chance of mating going on here and ending up like sam, then I am probably better off just taking boss. I don't want no egg laying either, this is the reason I didn't want a female in the first place after having my sisters female hen die of egg binding. I am still thinking on it and was thinking maybe I could take her and find her a home around here maybe with someone I know. Springfield(where boss and mom are) is a big city area and supposed to be bad, and where I am is a much nicer area.

Well, boss WAS supposed to be coming home with us on sunday when both me my boyfriend are off together-----but I am off on friday, so he tried to change his work schedule around and managed to get friday off too, so this means that friday (tomorrow) is the big day! Boss will be coming home with us tomorrow! the week just flew by! I still wanted to get a few more things for his cage, I have no cuttlebone for it yet, but that's ok, I will just get it after he comes home. I am going to get him during the middle part of the day when the temps out will be the warmest, maybe around 1 or 2 24 hours and boss will be on his ride home! :D

Yup! sam's got me beat though! lol For a few weeks we will keep him and woody apart. After that is when the fun will begin. Watching them getting to know each other should be alot of fun----I am thinking chances are very good that they will get along just fine. Neither are biters and woody is pretty timid and small, so I doubt he will bother boss, and boss is very social with other birds, so I'm thinking the two will be good friends :D
