I was wondering the very same thing! How long typically before they hatch?

Someone over on the lovebird chat had eggs for 2 weeks and they finally hatched. Can't wait to see the pics.

I can't imagine having little baby cockatiels!!! They must be something!

Seriously....can you even imagine having little baby chicks at home?? I'd have to take maternity leave. Try explaining that one to your boss.

Everything is situation normal at the present. If my hatch calculator is anything near correct, I think I should see some activity sometime between today and next Monday. Today is day 18 for the first incubated egg, and I have not candled all of them since about day 9 or thereabouts. I did candle a couple 2 days ago and there is still a very large dark blob in the egg, and the air cell had tilted, so I only assume there is something going on, according to what I've read about egg development.

I do have a webcam set up on the nest, and can get some mediocre images (due to lack of light), and my next step will be to find a place to host it. Not sure how all this will work out, as I had to use my laptop to run the camera because I didn't have a 25' USB cable to come into the "cave" Don't know if the laptop will have enough HP to run camera and send the images to the web or not, but will give it a try. There will be no night time images at all, as I'll not put a light in there at this point. I'll see if I can do a frame capture then post what I see at the present.

    More later.

Ok.. as promised, the first ever posted picture of inside the nestbox. This is Smokey incubating the eggs. I'll try to get a pic of the eggs too, when he moves off of them, or is rotating them.

    Enjoy....

    Image

Sorry for the graininess of the image, but that's about the best I can do. That is taken at 5 fps, so it's not the greatest, but with so little light, not much else I can do.
