Well hello! We are all here and just fine. I have had a bout of spring fever and have been spending a lot of time outside and have been taking The Shermonster outside (in his cage) with me. He loves to sit outside and observe everything going on around him....but does not like bugs of any type. He had a 20 minute shower yesterday morning (and I thought I was a water hog) and spent a good hour preening. Now he's all fluffy and clean! Thanks for checking on us Sam! I still try to jump in on a few posts here and there. I'll see what I can do about getting some new pictures and video posted too!

I am Tootsie's mom, just got him a couple of months ago, my first Cockatiel. We have grown so attached to each other, seems like it's been years already. My name is also Noel - not too many of us out there! hope to talk to you more as time goes on.

welcome tootsies mom noel! you should post some more about tootsie, his age and what he likes----things like that. Glad to have you here!

Tootsie, I think, is a boy. At first thought he was a girl just because he's just so beautiful. He is yellow and cream mostly and he has stripes underneath his tale and I read somewhere that males were a solid color under their tails. But then I had his wings clipped about a week ago and the prof-parot guy said he thought he was a boy because of all his verbal objections to the clipping, etc. He also said "golly he's a nice bird" and my chest swelled with pride!!! (he prob says that to everyone) And, Tootsie learned how to wolf whistle in about a week and is very verbal otherwise. He said that the females are a lot quieter. True? Do cockatiels ever really learn how to talk with words?

I only got him a couple of months ago. I was a dog person (schnauzers), but all of them (3) have had seriously predisposed illnesses, diabetes, alergies, blood disorders, etc. And, unfortunately am going through a divorce. Seems like my 61 year old husband prefers the company of a 25 year old Costa Rican girl (who lives in Costa Rica) who doesn't speak English and he doesn't speak spanish but he pulled her off the streets performing the oldest profession known, got himself an appt there and move her in. Anyway, while I am working full time and have no help to take care of sick dogs.... I got Tootsie on a whim, not the way to go about it, but one day while I was feeling sorry for myself and wanted something alive to come home to.....

The first few weeks I was afraid that I may have made a mistake, but lo and behold, he has become a real joy and I couldn't imagine not having him around. Anyway... now that EVERYBODY knows the ugly side of my life... ready to move on and enjoy Tootsie and everything else life has to offer. When I am home he is on me 90% of the time and we just go around the house together doing whatever needs to be done. He is CRAZY in the morning and I love to watch his antics while I am getting ready for work. Everything is a toy or an adventure for him - he loves q-tips and the hair dryer of all things. I don't know how old he is as I got him from a pet store, but sure he was young. My sister has an African Grey, guess that's what got me thinking about a bird - but I didn't want the "poop squirts" if you know what I mean. I can see myself getting hooked on the cockatiels. Once I get my camera charged back up and figure out how to get his pic on... will post. sorry to be so long winded, but that's my story and I'm stickin to it...

tootsie's mom, welcome to our "family". I'm glad you joined us, and even more, glad you got yourself a birdie. They will love you no matter what, and it's unquestioning love. Please post some pics, and join us as much as you like. We all try to help each other.
