Singing bird

Postby Pablo on Mon Mar 26, 2007 9:50 am

Okay, I am woefully tone deaf and can barely give a wolf whistle with any consistency. Danny tries to mimic, but I can't really give him anything worth mimicking. I'm guessing I probably ought to get him a training CD. Any recomendations?

I have seen several different training CDs in pet stores but have never tried one. I'll be curious if anyone has and if they have worked! I have worked with Sherwin on different tunes and whistles but he likes to whistle his own made up version. When he whistles/sings he really gets into it, so instead of trying to correct it I just let him roll. The one sound that he has picked up is a kiss....he also does a clicking noise. :D

Singing Bird

Casper did the wolf whistle that one time but she has not done it again. She has these funny, funny tunes. Don't know where she gets them. But some of them sound like she is laughing. It is the funniest thing to listen to her try to carry a tune!

I am so happy that she finally started to sing. She really keeps herself occupied with it. Free's up my time a bit!

woody does the same thing---he likes to sing his own little tunes! I actually like his little songs, and instead of trying to teach him one of ours, he ends up teaching me his! lol  I am a good student too, some of those things he whistles and sings are not easy to immitate! lol

It's funny to watch them while they are whistling their own tune. For some odd reason, Sherwin loves to sing to my feet and he will walk down my leg to my foot and will whistle for several minutes at a time. He can get this look on his little face like he KNOWS he sounds good and he's so proud of himself!

Noel... I know exaclty what you are talking abot :)

Nevertheless... Pablo, Bubba does the same thing as woody... he likes to make up his own stuff... he also cat calls and does a few things we taught him... a training CD may be a good thing for him... repitition works! Sorry though, but i can't reccomend a good one.

My mom had a tiel when I was a teenager. She had gotten a key chain or some sort of thing that played the Mayberry theme song. She would play it ALL the time. And the tiel did eventually pick it up and whistled it back. I'm sure a training CD would work along the same principle of hearing and repeating.
