Are we obsessive compulsive? Or is it love?

Postby Luna Bella on Tue Mar 06, 2007 5:59 pm

Have you noticed the amount of posts on the tiel board is about 3x that of the next highest chat board?

What is it? Is it us? Our beloved tiels? What makes us want to talk about our birds more then other species owners? I even talk about her to strangers in the pet store!

Maybe a shrink will start a practice called COCD - Cockatile Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. I might be the first patient

Luna, I think it's because we value both our companions and the experiences of other 'tiel parents. As for being obsessive, I'd say YES, it is an obsession with me, and I spend most of my day with my flock. I would think in the next 6 months, I'll either start sprouting feathers, or growing a beak :-) The compulsive part hits home too.. I can't stand being without them, and likewise with them. I leave the room, and I'm immediately called out for. If they are playing in the floor and I get up to go to another room, they all hightail it for the cage, all the while calling for me. Yeah, they're spoiled, and I'm as much a part of their flock as any other birdie. I'm quite surprised when I put them to bed they don't scream at me for not coming with them :D

Quite frankly, for me, it is definitely LOVE at first bite :-)

At any rate, I'll be the 2nd patient!

Hey, obsessive/compulsive runs in my family! lol but I am not really that bad-----not compared to my sister and dad, but I do have that family history. As far as my bird goes, I just love my birdie, and I guess I do talk about him to people I know sometimes, but I don't overdo it! Our birdies are just SO adorable, that we can't help ourselves! lol they are sweet little things, and to think most people in this world never know this or what birds are capable of, how cute and smart they really are.

Love or Compulsion

Postby Diego's Mom, Lisa on Wed Mar 07, 2007 12:00 pm

Well, when you have a cockatiel license plate, a cockatiel button, a tiel t-shirt, a tiel hat....yea, that is addiction!!!

But can you think of a better addiction to have????

You know, I noticed that about the forums. I go on the lovebird forum too. There are never any new posts. But that also tells me that we are very interested to learn about our birds and keep them happy. The more we ask and talk, the more we know. That is all the better for the kids!!!

Besides, we have a wonderful group of people on here that enjoy talking to each other and have fun with our common factor (the tiel).

Hi, my name is Lisa, and I am a tiel addict. Funny Noel!!!!

It is funny how there are larger "flocks" of certain breed owners on different boards. I wouldn't say I am a tiel junkie, but since I have about 40 birds in the living room, I guess I can't deny being either a bird addict or an incredibly soft touch....or both.

And being OCD is considered a good thing in my line of work

Postby bostonbudgie on Sat Mar 17, 2007 11:55 am

Yup, I flick my food around. I have pecked my mate's head til he's bald. I like to preen. I kind of waddle.
oh oh..I'm turning into a cockatiel....

In my house, love. I do have a hard time turning away from any bird though, so maybe a little bit of obsession mixed in? :D
