I just dropped about $200 at the vet for Dan's well birdie checkup. That was a physical exam, gram stain, blood tests, and band removal. The checkup itself was about $50. It's the blood tests that get you. They charged me $16 for the band removal, which I thought was a little high, but there's no way I would have been able to cut it off myself. The vet used a ginormous set of bolt cutters. Knowing me, I would have snipped the whole leg off. I practically took off one of Pablo's toes the first time I trimmed his nails, and that was with a tiny pair of clippers.

Pablo- That sounds about right. I pay about that per bird on their annuals. They did not charge me to remove the band from my parrotlet. I think vet's should include that like wing and nail trims.

Have fun with your new family member
The zoo includes:
Jed- The dog (In doggy heaven)
Bosco- The cockatiel (In birdie heaven)
Bodie- The parrotlet
