I have insurance for my tiel through VPI Pet Insurance. There are I think two levels of insurance you can get....the basic is around $10.00/month and the basic plus extra coverage is approx $23.00/month. I adopted Sherwin without knowing his age or previous medical conditions and they covered him. I have spent thousands before on vet bills and decided to take the worry away and cover him. Is pet insurance really worth it though? I don't have pet insurance for Bubba--he has only been sick once in ten years, and the vet only needed to put him on meds--I was lucky, Bubba had bumblefoot, and the vet was really surprised that I caught it as early as I did. When you don't catch it early, it can require multiple vet visits to get it all fixed, which means lots of money! So what do you all think? Is pet insurance worth the cost? Do you have it? Why did you choose why or why not to get it?
