Northeast Ohio Re: Avian Vet

Postby Twix04 on Sun Feb 18, 2007 12:22 am

Does anyone know of any avian vets in Northwest Ohio? I doubt there are any as everything of any value is at least two hours drive or more from this wretched town...can you sense my frustration? lol

Any kind of breeder, dog, horse, or bird show is never near here...

Yes, and I can relate-----I moved here in sept to western mass, from a more highly populated area over in upstate NY and there were all kinds of avian vets where I was, but very few here----closest one is half hour away-----not too bad I guess.

ok... little confused, the subject says northeast, but the post says northwest. I know a vet in Northeast if you want-- Broadview Animal Hospital treats birds, located in Northeast Ohio--Parma. I know of another in Akron OH, but don't have a name, just know that one exists. The vet that treats birds is from the Akron Zoo.

Hope this can help, again, don't know if you want northeast or northwest. Another suggestion, call the nearest vet, and they may direct you to an avian specialist. This is what I did.

It is just off the intersection of Broadview and Pleasant Valley Road (On Broadview Rd, just north of Pleasant Valley) In Seven Hills, OH (Sorry, it is on the border of Seven Hills and Parma). They work with birds, and were really great when I brought Bubba in when he was developing bumblefoot. They were very helpful, answering questions and concerns even after I left. If you want contact info:

Broadview Animal and Bird Hospital
216.524.1141

7553 Broadview Rd.
Seven Hills, OH 44131

www.broadviewpetmedicalcenter.com

Hope this Helps,

Thank you for the recommendation, but that is still much farther than I'd like to travel, especially since I either have to take the toll interstate or the stop-and-go U.S. highways...ugh. I just took a similar route to pick up my newbie from her breeder.

Thankfully, I did manage to find a specialized vet in the Toledo area, so I'm happy about that :D

Columbus Ohio

I sense your frustration twix. I sometimes visit my husband's family in Columbus and I am shocked that there isn't any bird speciality shops in Ohio as big as it is. Sometimes I see some bird/pet shows listed in Bird Talk that are in Ohio. (check www.birdchannel.com)Of course, Ohio is a big state so I do not know if any of these shows are close to you
