Of course I have bought toys for luna - pagoda type mirror with bell, the 4 platic balls that hang together, foot toys and a sisal rope toy. She loves the platic hooks!!

So, I got the idea to make some myself with sisal, hemp and some plastic beads. She likes them and will che here ane there.

But, her favorite toy (and go ahead and laugh) is this - I cut a coffee stirer about 2 1/2" - 3" long, threaded a piece of hemp string through the opening, wrapped it with more hemp and tied the ends together and hung it in the cage. She can't get enough of it!! So, last night, I wrapped one of the short perches on her playgym with hemp, and she loves that too!!

I bought a roll or spool of it (whatever you call the thing thats wrapped upon itself for about 3 bucks or so at walmart, sisal about the same price and a bag of beads about the same price. So for about 10 bucks I have a bunch of possibilities with toy making. I even have a little piece of the hemp with 2 beads on it - she likes that too!

What about yours? What kinds of toys do they like?

What is it with these silly birds anyway!

I buy nice toys....make some of my own....and what do they play with the most? Q-Tips.....coffee filters....toilet paper rolls.....scheesch!

But I guess I am the silly one for giving those thing to them....

Be careful with the sisal rope. Most that comes from the hardware store or HD / Lowe's is treated with oil. I've not been able to find craft type sisal anywhere, but I know it's available on the web.

Yeah, the Q-tips, shoelaces, plastic straws and all the other cheap or free stuff is what they really love. That and chewing wood.

Sally's fav toy is Joey, Joey's Fav toy is Gizmo, & Gizmo fav toy is Sally.

Sherwin has two....one is a pinata that I picked up at PetSmart. He loves to chew on it and shred it. The second is a bag of cotton balls. I know that sounds insane, but he loves to drag the bag and drop it off of things. If I put him on a table with the bag, he will throw it off the table and doing this will entertain him for a while.

Crazy birds - crazy bird owners!

Casper's favorites at the moment are some party favors that I got at Party City. They are plastic blue baby pins. She picks them up and carries them as she waddles around the living room. I find them scattered all over the room!

Before them, it was the string of colored paper clips that I confiscated from work!!!

Woody isn't all that crazy for toys------I try buying different ones and move them around often, but the only one that he likes is his mirror. The mirror has a plastic perch type thing in front of it he likes to pick that up and watch it drop down, and chew on it, and of course, he loves to sing to his reflection! He never chews on any of the toys that they are supposed to chew on----instead he chews on his concrete perch.

Jerrylee loves anything made of paper. He likes to tear up newspaper, and he screeches at it while he does and makes a lot of noise. Books are fun, too; I put old ones on my desk for him. I've given up on trying to actually using the desk shelf for the reference materials it's intended for! He will shred the books into tiny little pieces and then stick his head in the pile and toss them about. Magazines are another favorite of his. One time, he even ate a hole in my credit card bill!
