I did the same thing. I had to send them and email since they are not open on the weekend, but they replied that they would send out the samples too. :)

Here's an update on Luna's avicakes. The little stinker would SCREAM!!! for her seeds. I got the avicakes about 6-8 weeks ago in the sample box. Everyday I'd give her seed in one bowl, and avicakes in another. The little brat would eat the seeds out of the cake and leave the pellet mix behind!! What could I do? Send her to her perch with no cuddling? It was driving me crazy thinking at least 1/2 the food was being trashed.

Now - totally different! I still give her seeds in one bowl and the avicakes in another, and she chows down on those cakes and there is almost NOTHING going in the trash! She eats 4 squares or so a day plus other stuff too. I didn't push or coax or hold back other food - none of the things the "experts" (in Lafebers) tells you to do. To be honest I can't be bothered with that. I am very comfortable with her state of health and her weight. I give her a variety of foods, she'll eat whats there to choose from. I guess she converted herself!

If she could just keep the food in the bowl....

    Jo,

If she's eating that much, she probably doesn't need much else. The avicakes are a complete food, but of course she needs other stuff too. I'd sure not worry about her diet with that kind of food. My bunch used to just love the avi-cakes, and now, not a single one will touch them. Sherwins Mom sent me a bag of food she feeds Sherwin, and at first, I thought it was not going to work out. I just got a bag I ordered yesterday, put some in the cages, and they went right to it. No sunflower seeds, and no safflower seeds, plus lots of veggies, dried fruit bits, nut pieces and other goodies. Seems to be very little in there to waste. We'll see how it goes. The L&M Farms Vita-Vittles is such a waste, as it has so much stuff in there none will even touch, and so many sunflower seeds. I'm trying to get more of them to eat fresh food, and with Missy's help, they are coming around.

That's great Sam! Luna doesn't go for the dried fruits or sunflower seeds! I have a feeling the avicakes is going to be just for a while, that's why I have the seed and other pellets in there too - I know she won't go hungry!

I do a mixture of seed and avi-cakes. But of course, Casper eats all the avi-cakes first, then goes for the seed. My lovebirds are the same way. They pick all the avi-cakes first, then the sunflower seeds, then the other seed last.

Casper won't touch sunflower seeds. I looked in her cage the other day and there were tons of them on the cage floor. She must pick them out and drop them outside of her bowl!
