How I Get My Fids To Eat Anything With The "Magic Mirro

Postby HarpSpirit on Thu Jan 11, 2007 7:40 pm

Here is a picture of my "Magic Mirror" also known as the "Hall Of Mirrors" I found at PetCo.....it seems that anything and everything that I put in this mirror disappears! It supposed to attach upright to the cage but I lay it down on the floor of the cage.

I can put in foods the Fids have NEVER eaten before and it's magically gone! Pellets....carrots....eggs...etc.

Now I don't know how this mirror works....my theory is... either it has a Black Hole in it or the Fids really do eat the stuff. :D

Was that mirror in the birdy section or somewhere else? I don't recall seeing anything like that in the bird section, but was not looking for it either..

Mirror

Postby HarpSpirit on Fri Jan 12, 2007 11:23 am

The mirror was in the section of smaller toys or closer to the parakeet stuff....but I have seen it at PetCo...PetSmart stores and also thier websites and in the Drs. Foster & Smith Catalog. Hope this helps!

My daughter gave me the idea when she got one for her 2 parakeets and put it on the cage floor. They would never eat anything other than seeds and now they actually eat pellets and veggies put in there!

I love that we need to "trick" our babies into eating things that are good for them :D

Magic Mirror

Postby Diego's Mom, Lisa on Fri Jan 12, 2007 12:25 pm

I wonder if it is because they see their reflection in the mirror and see the "other bird" eating it and figure they need to eat it before the other one does???? I will never claim to figure Casper out. Too confusing for me. All I can say is, I don't know what I would do without her!!!

What a fantastic idea. Thanks for sharing it with us. Next time I see a petsmart I'll grab one of those handy dandy mirrors.

Ditto on the try. I've got some pretty finicky eaters at times, and they don't always eat what they really should, and a couple won't even try human food. I'll see if that will trick them into eating!

I went to petco and and they were out of that hall of mirrors, and to order it online, they want more for shipping than it costs for the mirror, geez! and I don't have a petsmart around here, so I will keep trying and see if they get it in.
