Poop Towels

Postby Diego's Mom, Lisa on Wed Jan 10, 2007 11:17 am

Babyluv - This is a spin off from one of your posts on eggs.
Regarding changing your shirt often...
I have a whole pile of Casper towels. They are my old kitchen towels that I don't use anymore. I just throw one over my shoulder/chest/arm, where ever she decides to sit.
Honestly, I don't mind when she poops on my clothes, it comes out. But yea, you do go through a ton of clothes that way.
Also, I keep a box of kleenex in every room and keep one handy when I am on the couch. That way, even with the towel, I can scoop it up right away and save on washing all her poop towels constantly.

I've found that Charmin Ultra works better than anything for collecting poo. Somehow, it seems to lift poo off things without really wiping or pinching. If you just touch the poo, it will stick to the sheet of TP. I keep a roll in the den all the time. A double roll will last about a week or more with all 6 birdies on the loose. There was a thread on the bird chat board where someone mentioned making cement out of birdy poo.. :-) I found some dried poo the other day in an unlikely spot, and I swear, I had to scrape it off, and it was like cement! Can you imagine a construction material made from birdy poo :D I think that's wild!

    Poop towels

Postby flemishe on Wed Jan 10, 2007 1:26 pm

I kind of know when it's getting ready to happen, and I've trained Marley to go over a trash can or a towel, so I'll hold her over that and say "Potty" and she usually will go. She also doesn't like to potty on people, so she often times will hold it until I put her over the trash can or put her back to her cage. Sometimes I forget though, and those are when the occasional accident happens.

Smokey will rarely ever poop on us. He'll sit sometimes for 45 mins. and will suddenly fly back to the cage and poop. The rest think I'm the public toilet :-)

    poop story

Postby bostonbudgie on Fri Jan 12, 2007 2:39 pm

I have a spray called "poop off". It is an enzyme that "eats up" those stubborn poop stains. It works pretty good. Yes, I have my 'bird shirts". It is a part of living with birds. My leather couch it pretty beat up but at least if there is an 'accident" it washes up fine.
I really only have one tiel that poops on me. She's a little retarded, seriously.(She is handicapped mentally a little bit)The other ones don't poop on me but rather aim off of me.

Hi. Very new to the site and sooo happy as a new cockatiel owner to have found it!!!

I thought I was the only one who had "poop" shirts! LOL. I even have a poop robe.

    Mine are just poop machines.

I also do a lot of laundry

Yeah, we do too. We have our designated poop shirts, though. Mostly they're just old ratty t-shirts with holes in them, but I bought a couple of t-shirts from my gift shop that have bullseyes on the shoulder and the front says "My Parrot Walks All Over Me"... at least then it looks almost deliberate :) I'm slowly phasing out the cadre of old ratty shirts and bringing in bird shirts just for poop!

I thought about the towel proposition, but they don't like to sit on the towels, or sheets, or whatever... they all prefer knit t-shirts. They'll move off the towel anyway, so we just gave up trying to keep it off our clothes. Thank goodness it doesn't stain (provided they don't eat those colored pellets!)...
