Hissing

Postby flemishe on Wed Jan 10, 2007 4:57 pm

Marley doesnt bite, thank goodness. She does the rapid fire thing with her beak, but it never hurts.
She even got shots 2 times a day in her chestbone for 14 days straight and didnt bite anyone!

Hissing and Biting

Postby Diego's Mom, Lisa on Wed Jan 10, 2007 5:02 pm

Casper does that pecking thing on me sometimes. She does bite once in awhile, but not to hurt. Just to warn you. She can get a little cranky sometimes. Cranky bird! But generally, she is pretty good. When she gets like that, all I do is go "PSSSST" and she stops. Never got her used to the word "NO", so that is our sign to quit it!

I don't think hissing is a female trait----my parents male tiel used to hiss all the time. My bird also pecks at us sometimes, not very often though. Mostly its just that "mad" chirp, when he doesn't like something

Both of mine will hiss when they don't want to be bothered or are scared of something new. Thier behaviors and noises they make are definately female.

Woody does not hiss------I know he is capable of it because I have heard him do it about 2 or three times in the eight months I have had him! but all he does when he is upset is let out this "mad" little chirp. My boyfriend got me this cute little parrot on valentines day----little stuffed animal thing that says "I love you" when you squeeze it. Well, I had woody out and I showed it to him and he hissed at it! lol two times on two different days he reacted the same way and he never hisses, so it was funny to see. Here is what all the hissing is about............

I sure hope he doesn't react that way to having a new birdie buddy this summer![/img]
