That's a hard break Theo. My sympathies are with you, but better now than after you two had spent years together. I would like to say that because the bird was parent raised, that was the problem, but I've read of too many people who let their flock raise the young, and they still turn out to be tame. A lot has to do with early introduction to the hand and people. Maybe this one just didn't have enough early "hand time".
On my last attempt to snag a pair of females, I wound up with a male and female. The male bit me harder and in more places than I'd ever been bitten before, drawing blood at every bite. I wound up taking him back to the breeder after only 1 night, and when I handled him, I used my wool gloves! Told the breeder, he was not "pet quality" and he should be added to his mating flock. Very adorable and quite healthy looking chick of 4 months, but no way he'd work out with 5 other tame birds. I have no regrets except the birdy will never know how much love and affection I have to give
